Positive experience

Motel 6 Burlington NC

For the hotel, it was average. Everyone was very nice, even when I checked out a day early. They started my refund immediately. The rooms were updated at some point, but not fancy and definitely worn down. They were not thoroughly cleaned (lots of dust), but not truly dirty. Our room did not have carpet, but the floors were dusty. Beds were fine - one of our queen beds was very squeaky but again it was fine. The top “comforter” was thin, so we tossed them on the floor and used our own blankets. I would recommend bringing your own blanket(s). I searched for bed bugs and roaches, but did not find any. We did find three house centipedes inside the room, which were new critters to me (lol).

When we first got to the room, it smelled like it had once been a smoking room and was very warm. I ran the AC at it’s lowest (66) for our entire day and by the second day the smell was virtually gone. I think the room hadn’t been used in a while. The room did cool off well and stayed cool despite the crazy heat.

The shower and sink worked well. Only free bar soap, but we brought our own anyway. The microwave worked well. The refrigerator was a bit too cold and froze everything, but definitely better than it being too warm. Our TV, remote, and all lights worked just fine.

The cleaning people informed us that because we had a dog, they needed to service the room daily. But we were able to just accept clean towels and turn in our dirty ones without any other issues. My boyfriend was discouraged they would not give us a “do not disturb” sign, which they stated is prohibited at the hotel. No one else had one, so I believe that is simply their policy.

My dog had no issues and no one bothered us. They have a little potty area for the dogs, but a lot of people did not clean up after their pets despite the hotel providing poo bags and a trash can. My dog did bark several times when she heard people moving around outside, but no one complained.

We paid about $400 for 5 nights and did not pay extra for my dog. It is not a luxury hotel, nor should it be for the cost. But it was definitely a positive experience for the price. If you are looking for a 5 star luxury hotel, this is not for you. If you’re looking for a place to sleep with a pet and get a good rate, this may be a good choice for you.

This was my first time using BringFido, and I have nothing but good things to say about the company! I needed to cancel a day off my trip and the people I spoke to were very kind and helpful.
