Great pet-friendly hotel
Quality Inn & Suites GoodyearStayed here on a cross country trip. After a nightmare experience with another hotel in Phoenix which we booked, we searched endlessly for a hotel that wasn't $400 and was available but also dog friendly without an expensive pet fee. Apparently it was a big event in town so it was tough to find. We showed up to this hotel and low and behold they had a room (at a premium but still cheaper than everything else we saw online). The front desk person was so nice and helpful. She checked us in a room which met our needs perfectly. King bed and pet friendly. It actually even had a courtyard which was perfect for the dog to use the bathroom. Overall unremarkable stay but that's what made it great. We felt safe and comfortable.
DO NOT STAY HERE
Red Roof Inn Phoenix MidtownWe were on a cross country trip and originally booked another Red Roof Inn. After tweaking the trip a bit, I went to rebook that one but seemingly booked this one instead. There was a big event in town so most hotels were sold out. We showed up and there were loiterers everywhere. Lots of addicts hanging around. Probably wasn't a good sign the entire motel was fenced in.
We left and parked at the 7/11 next door while we regrouped to figure out what we wanted to do. While there, we saw a security guard armed to the nines. After sitting there for a bit he came over and knocked on our window to check on us. He told us he wanted to be sure we were OK because we were in a bad neighborhood at dusk and someone just got stabbed at the 7/11 the night before.
We called the specific Red Roof Inn which went to a call center. They cancelled our reservation (and as of today, haven't charged us for it). So only positive I have about this experience is the customer service.
