Unwelcoming staff, dirty outdated rooms

Candlewood Suites Greenville an IHG Hotel

From the 1st day to my departure the stay at Candlewood was unpleasant. My check in took over an hour as the front desk gird had no idea what she was doing and although she could see my reservation on her computer screen she could not figure out how to do the check-in. Then she was not able to to do the hold change for my dog stay and she kept charging on my card. Her explanation was that it is my fault for reserving through a 3rd party and she kept repeating that to the point I felt offended and unwelcome.

I asked a room closer to the elevator, she gave me pretty much one of the last rooms at the end of the corridor with an un working TV, un working bad lamp, refrigerator that was squeaking at night, and overall a very dirty room which I cleaned myself. When asked for another room, she rudely said that is the room for the type of reservation I made and she has no other room for me

I had a week long stay and from all the front desk people that change shifts very few would welcome you with a hello or even acknowledge your entrance in the hotel. Hallways an elevator floors were dirty and not attended. The garbage in the front of the entrance of the hotel was only picked up when overflowing. The dog station was overflowing from the 1st day I arrived, no bags, and has never been addressed for my whole stay.

My checking became a nightmare as the same girl that did the check in, had no idea how to check me out. While carrying my things to the car has never acknowledged my presence and when I reached her to give my keys and check out she had already did the charge on my card .She hand me the receipts and said I’m all set. When I look over the receipt I noticed that was I was charged a large amount over $200 on my card which did not show on the receipt.

After a nonsense explanation which she made no sense, she sent me the Expedia number to call. While I was sitting on the couch in the lobby and calling Expedia, she shouted from the reception to hand her back my receipt which she initially gave me, had my name and room number on it and my stay information. She threatened me that she’ll call the police if I don’t give her back my receipt and she was offending me at the point.

I asked for manager and said there’s none available. I went out to continue my call to Expedia and left with bitter taste of a such a awful experience. I’d never recommend this hotel.
