Very Dog Friendly
East Bay Inn Historic Inns of Savannah CollectionWe had a great time in Savannah and staying at the East Bay Inn. Lots of dogs with their owners. The Inn is in a historic building but everything is easy access.
Great location!
Wormsloe State Historic SiteWe loved visiting Wormsloe. It was super hot the day we visited so we went early in the morning and elected not to do the long hikes to make sure my fur babies were not overheated. We had a great time. Met a volunteer that showed us all kinds of things that were done in the “colonial gardens”. It was wonderful! He showed us how plantings were done and all kinds of vegetables that they were growing. Plenty of places to stop and give the babies some water and sit to cool off. Very shaded area and really nice trails. Highly recommend this site.
Wow! They really love dogs!
Driftaway CafeWe had a great time at this restaurant. We went to Wormsloe in the morning and stopped here for lunch. They went out of their way to make sure my babies were well watered and cool. They even brought out extra ice to keep the water bowl they provided cool and the fans were on. It was wonderful and so was the food! Highly recommend Driftaway Cafe!
Great location
Americas Best Value Inn ClaytonMotel is run down and a little sketchy. We loved the area but will not stay there again. Main door was unlocked most of the time. Lots of dog and cat owners but one couple was drunk and banging on windows at 5:30 in the morning and shouting at each other in the parking lot. Older motel that needs renovating.
Great place for walking trails and learning history
Foxfire Museum & Heritage CenterWe loved this museum. It is a really shaded, well maintained walking trail with lots of spots to sit and learn about the area and how they survived. Absolutely fascinating glimpse into Appalachian life. They have lots of people showing how things were done from blacksmiths to weavers to instrument makers. Plenty of spots to sit and give my babies some water and a rest. Took us about 2 hours to really look around and enjoy things. The dogs slept all the way home (3 hours) they were so tired from running up and down steps and the mountain. Perfect!
True Dog Friendly B&B
Foley House InnThis was the first time we have stayed at a truly dog friendly B&B. We enjoyed wine in the evening with with other dog lovers all of us letting our dogs meet each other and play. Didn’t see a ghost, but did get a workout on the step stairs!
