GREAT LOCATION. IT ENDS THERE.
Horseshoe Bend ParkThis is a spectacular rural space in fenced off preserved farmland. Open sunrise to sunset. It's about 5 acres. Unfortunately, there are so many RULES unattainable by even the most conscientious dog owners. It is a self-governing dog park, as are most. Here, the regulars congregate on the septic mound to decide who they are going to intimidate next. This space is more about the people fitting in, than the actual dogs. Diversity is not embraced here. Such a magnificent space with such narrow minded, often hostile dog owners. A shame and a loss.
No Consistency
River Road Dog ParkThe facility is ultra convenient for dog owners in Bedminster and Green Knoll section of Bridgewater. Convenient is about the best thing here. The park is constantly muddy and the crowd has Aggressive dog owners looking to outsmart the next with a “my dog is better, smarter than yours” mentality. The tougher the dog wins his survival of the fittest contest here resulting in the submissive, friendly dogs are weeded out, or asked to leave. This is a park where a couple of regular “dog walkers” who label themselves the “best trainers” manipulate the territory. It’s highly competitive for no reason. The professional dog walkers are trying to hold their clients and many of the locals are posers or are truly lacking in integrity and human kindness. I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s not a happy, relaxed place on most days. 5% of the time a decent, mature group shows and it is on those rare occasions it makes me want to try again. It’s really a 2 bone park with an additional bone for being so conveniently located. The facility is disappointing as are 70% of the dog owners.
