Great Stay in a Great Location
Red Roof Inn Dayton - Fairborn/ Nutter CenterOnly ten minutes from the National Museum of the United States Air Force and close to 50+ Restaurants, this motel has great customer service and good exercise areas for dogs. The only negative is the congestion around the back of the hotel (service provider vehicles) and the lone dumpster to dispose of waste.
Exceeded Expectations!
Super 8 by Wyndham Sweet SpringsThe front desk was staffed, and the proprietors were helpful with suggestions for dinner and breakfast. Our room and the motel were clean and well-maintained. Sweet Springs is a hardscrabble community with good people. Be sure to check out The Last Chance Saloon for breakfast and Sherri Lynn’s Diner for dinner. Only negative at the Super 8 was the dumpster for dog waste.
Beat Expectations
Red Roof Inn Greencastle South - CloverdaleThe front desk was staffed and the check-in was efficient. We had a convenient room off the lobby and near an exit to a lawn area. The maintenance and housekeeping were excellent. The day manager greeted Murphy Brown with pets and hugs. The only negative was that the exit for Murphy Brown was evidently a staff break area and had two discarded car bench seats and an old grill by the dumpster to dispose of waste. Cloverdale is a neat town.
Clean Room but Common Areas Dirty
Super 8 by Wyndham BeresfordOur room was clean except for the wall edges of the carpet. The halls, door windows, and exterior areas had not been maintained nor cleaned recently. The exterior trash containers were full and smelly. More attention needed to facility maintenance/housekeeping.
Good but could improve
Super 8 by Wyndham Osceola IAAfter waiting and calling the posted number for ten minutes to check-in, I called BringFido customer service. When the desk clerk arrived five minutes later, he stated he had taken the wrong phone with him. Despite the shaky start, this motel was maintained well and our room was clean. The room downside was the non-working bathtub drain. The pet relief area was convenient. There appears to be a trend toward unstaffed front lobby counters at budget motels.
Great Location-Average Service
My Place Hotel - Dickinson NDMy Boykin Spaniel and I probably had best pet-friendly room on first floor across from exit to dog relief area. Although no breakfast, this was a comfortable stop for a night.
Motel Shows Wear
Homestead Inn and SuitesFirst time staying at a Homestead Inn. This one had great location, but the facility was in disrepair in places and the room had no tissue, had a broken coffee maker, and had wrinkled carpeting in an area. Staff was helpful. Dog relief area in back of two storage sheds in almost sagebrush—not good late evening especially.
Avoid!
Rodeway Inn West FargoThis hotel has a great location off I-94, but it is undergoing major reconstruction (and from reviews on other sites has been since 2014). The lobby desk is dark and unstaffed. It took me ten minutes to raise a desk clerk to check-in. To her credit, she showed me to our room, which had been renovated and was clean. She also secured me a cart and wheeled to my vehicle for loading and then pushed it to the room. My major concern is safety. I saw only one family and one senior woman as guests other than mainly lone males, most likely workers from various jobs. When I returned from an early dinner, there were several younger men partying from pickups with loud music and beer in the parking lot. This hotel is not recommended for families, women travelers, and seniors. The dog potty area is a distance from the lobby entrance and is accessed through parked construction equipment-not safe at dusk!
Great Independent Cabin Featured Motel
Z Bar MotelOnly six blocks from the Buffalo historic center, this motel features single and duplex log cabins with contemporary features—microwaves and fridges. Although it doesn’t offer breakfast, it has a great green lawn area for families and pets. The lawn is irrigated and lush despite the dry heat of Wyoming summers. It was a welcome change to the chain motels right off 1-90 and 1-25. Fort Street is US16, which is a scenic route to Yellowstone.
Great Location/Room/Staff
La Quinta by Wyndham Rapid CityJust off I-90 in Rapid City, this La Quinta has an attached water park. If dining at Sliders, which is adjacent to and accessible for, water park guests, is not for you, a Perkins in the complex offers a discount to guests. My Boykin Spaniel was petted by numerous staff during our two-night stay. There is an enclosed dog relief area at the north end of the motel.
Almost 100 Years of History
Magnolia Hotel St. Louis, a Tribute Portfolio HotelUpdated from the 1920’s, this national Historic Landmark is completely pet friendly. As a bonus, there is no added pet fee. It retains the ambiance of its former life as the Mayfair while accommodating current traveler needs. My Boykin Spaniel and I were greeted by staff, and Murphy Brown enjoyed numerous pets. There’s the former post office park at end of the block for potty breaks. It’s located seven and one-half blocks from Gateway Arch National Park, and despite being downtown, I felt completely safe. Considering all, I felt this hotel was fairly priced at about $100 per night above the average for two star motels with pet fees added.
Clean and Efficient
My Place Hotel - Kansas City East/Independence MOThis was my Boykin Spaniel and I stayed at a My Place motel. The afternoon staff on check-in was accommodating and told me not to worry if I needed a few minutes after 11 AM to check out the next day because of my visit to the Truman Presidential Library/Museum. The next morning staff did not honor that accommodation. Other than that, the motel was located in a safe area with an Arby’s and other restaurants close by. There is a dog exercise and potty area next to the motel.
Great Location But Congested Area
Best Western Empire TowersMy Boykin Spaniel and I were assigned the room next to the swimming pool. It was surprisingly quiet. The room was clean with plenty of linens. The motel location is just off I-29, but the area is very congested. There is a designated pet exercise area.
Clean and Great Location
La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Indianapolis North at PyramidsReceived a first floor room just off lobby and breakfast area. The hotel was only a 20 minute drive from the Indy Motor Speedway and within a mile of the 465 beltway. My Boykin Spaniel had a good time with the double automatic entry doors. Decent breakfast provided.
