Ask for a Renovated Room!

Patricia Grand Resort Hotel

We pulled up and I immediately regretted the decision. The hotel on the outside doesn't look the best, and has one of those "No Vacancy" signs out front. The staff was...nice...although it took them a while to check us in and they didn't seem to be in a rush. We unloaded our stuff in to the lobby, and then drove our car across the street to the parking lot they have. Parking is included, but the lot is somewhat shady. We unloaded what we could from the car and parked within street view.

We were on the 17th floor and when we walked into our room I was BLOWN away. A full kitchen with plates, pots, and silverware. The floors were wood paneling, and you could tell the room was recently remodeled. The view was INCREDIBLE. Perfect view of the beach and there were even chairs and a small table on the balcony.

The back of the resort was under construction so there was no outside pool and no beach access. Luckily you just have to go nextdoor for the beach access.

Trust me, on the outside this place is sketchy. The remodeled room is probably one of the nicest I've ever stayed in (next to a room at the Trump in Vegas) and for the price you pay it's worth the shadiness if you get a new room. Just make sure and take everything out of your car!

Extremely Accommodating For Dogs!

Best Western Plus St. Christopher Hotel

I know what you're thinking. It's a Best Western. My heart sank every time I saw on one on the road while we were driving (we drove from San Antonio to New Orleans). They did not look good. So when we pulled up to this location it seemed like my thoughts were confirmed. It had two front doors, and right beside it was a pretty shady alleyway and a public lot that looked as dangerous as ever.

When I walked in I was amazed. It was beautiful inside, with a great rustic feel. The staff was extremely nice and offered our dog a treat (which he loved!). Our room was FANTASTIC. Wood paneling for our furry friend and a quaint little space for us. It was a bit on the smaller side, but it was definitely better than a standard room you would get somewhere else.

The hotel has an awesome breakfast, and is just on the outside of the French Quarters. It makes it super easy to get there and to feel safe in the process.

The only downfall, besides the small room, was the valet. You can use the public lot, but it's one of the shadiest I've ever seen. So you are stuck with the $40 valet (that isn't run by the hotel but still associated with them). They are super unorganized, and the lot is pretty far because its only one way streets throughout the city. The dropoff was simple, but the pickup took about 20-30 minutes because no one was at the desk when we checked out, and we had to text the number they gave us. Not the best when you're on a time schedule.

Awesome Stay With Our Furry Friend

Hotel Indigo San Antonio Riverwalk an IHG Hotel

After driving for almost the entire day I couldn't picture arriving at a better hotel than the Hotel Indigo. What a place. We stayed in a dog friendly room so the floors were wooden (or at least wood paneling) which added alot to the space. The staff was extremely kind and helpful and accommodating to our furry little friend.

What made the experience even better was the fact that we had DIRECT access to the riverwalk from the back of the property. Not once do you have to go out on the city streets to get to some incredible restaurants.

The only downsides are the valet, which is basically necessary because the public lot is super shady, and the pool is about the size of an apartment kitchen. Definitely would have been a debbie downer if thats why we had planned to go. Fortunately we were only passing through, so the incredible room (and awesome shower) were exactly what we were looking for!

Great Option for Pet Owners!

La Quinta by Wyndham Las Cruces Organ Mountain

As far as the hotel goes, it was better than I expected. This was our first time traveling with our dog and I was worried how it was all going to work out. They were extremely nice at the front desk, and the room was normal (carpeted floors). No one bothered us about our pet, even when he barked for a couple minutes when the pizza guy got there.

As for the area, you might want to unload your car first. Its a pretty run down part (not sure if all Las Cruces is like that) and there are a couple homeless that just walk around. They do have security in the parking lot at night which is awesome. But while walking around a lady stopped me and said "I know its Sunday and you're probably in the same boat I am but can you help me find some herbs? I really need herbs and I don't know what I'm going to do if I don't get any." Yeah...that's when we decided delivery for dinner was a good idea.

So all in all the hotel has done what they can. They can't control the area, I just know how much your heart sinks when you pull up after a long drive and that's where you stay. So just know ahead of time and be prepared.
