NIGHTMARE!!

We received a message on VRBO from the host a couple days prior saying that some work will be preformed outside and should not interrupt or stay. Well, as soon as we entered the cottage, the smell of septic hit us hard. I had to go in and spray whatever air freshener spray that I could find in house. I messaged the host right away and asked if she could call me ASAP. My wife took off to the corner store to get some candles to help with the smell.

While I was waiting for the call we noticed that the place was very dirty. There was dog hair and dirt on the linens of the beds. Refrigerator was a mess. Water streaks were coming down the wall. Ants were on the floor. Dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Linens was balled up in the closet. No wash clothes.... list goes on. So we decided to take pictures of proof to show the host. After about an hour, the host contacted me and was very shocked that the place was like it was. I told her that I had pictures and would send them.

She said that she would get with the cleaners and send them over. No cleaners showed up that evening. We decided to get the law involved so we could have other eyes on the matter. The officer said that this place should not have been rented out due to the construction. So I contacted the host and she said that she would send her son over in an hour or so. Her son showed up and said that this is unacceptable and would take care of it.

Well, my wife was tired of waiting and went back to the corner store to purchase cleaning supplies and cleaned the place. All this time, I am very scared that my 6 year old grandson would fall into the hole that was being created by the workers. The hole is about 7 feet deep and at least 12 foot wide. We have asked host for a fair compensation, but no replies.
