Hotel June Los Angeles a Member of Design Hotels

They have a great website - but that is it. They are selling something they don’t have. While the room I stayed in was newly renovated, it felt like a haunted house as you walk through the halls of the temporary front desk adorned with hanging bed sheets and painted black walls leading to the elevator. Staff will open a door for you, but stare blankly like zombies, as you thank them, without any reply.

While checking in, two homeless men who smelled of alcohol bumped into me with their large bags and made it all the way to the elevator before being stopped by the hotel manager. Once in the elevator, my curious dog dug out a stale, half eaten burrito from behind the wall padding of what appears to be a freight elevator, adorned with missing ceiling tiles. In the morning, I overheard staff refunding a couple’s stay as I scurried past the narrow hall to walk my dog in the parking lot-as there is no grass area other than the neighborhood a block over. The bowling alley next door is more like a club, open until 2am on the weekends. You cannot park in the adjacent lot, which is full of people wandering through all hours of the day and night. I hope they can turn it around, as I stayed here under previous ownership years ago without any fear. Pet fee is $35 per night.

Great Outdoor Spot In Summer

Truckee River Winery

The “highest and coldest winery” - Such a great time sitting outdoors in the summer. There were three other dogs there. Plenty of grassy areas, water bowls and toys. They have bocce and we’re preparing for a match that evening. I happily enjoyed my wine with charcuterie available for purchase. Only a short walk from where I stayed with “Fido”. They have BBQ pits, horseshoes, and a good truck was arriving on my way out. Indoors in the winter, they offer a cozy tasting experience with a fireplace and mulled wine. Such friendly staff, so grateful for the welcomed feeling.

Great Hotel

Best Western Plus Truckee-Tahoe Hotel

I was so pleased with my stay. A very warm welcome right from the start. They do allow crated dogs to stay in the room unattended, which I utilized to take a dip in their pool. There is a trail right outside the hotel, and a winery next door! A park is a short distance away to run your pup. I found the room to be very quiet, which is a perk with a protective dog that doesn’t like to hear too much noise outside the room. Breakfast was a bit above par, as well, which was appreciated after a week on the road. I would love to stay here again.

Motel Accommodations

La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Denver Golden

I found this hotel to be very unclean. I booked a double queen bed room (the lowest rate listed here) and was given the option of either the second or third floor upon check in. Since the hallways are exterior, I thought it best - for noise - to be on the third. If your dog doesn’t like to hear noise, this was a good option, as the parking lot was very busy on the first floor, with the exterior hallways. For some reason, many hotel guests were hanging out in the halls this evening.

They do allow you to leave a crated dog in the room alone, which worked out well for me to take the quick drive to Red Rocks. You can’t beat the location to this venue. While others have touted the proximity to a Denny’s and gas station, it wasn’t a perk for me. The grounds still remain torn up and under construction. It is right off the highway, and two semi truck cabs parked adjacent to the hotel lot overnight. Just expect a motel vibe.

The mattress was VERY old and there was a lot of hair on the mattress cover (I looked under the linen on this one). The linens were old and worn - beginning to lose their white color.

The coffee maker in the room was not clean. They provided shampoo only, no conditioner or lotion. Wear shoes, as the carpet was sticky! I didn’t set the bar too high, but they did not meet my expectations.

Good Option For The Area

Best Western Plus Wendover Inn

I stayed here one night in a king on the first floor near the exit to the pet area. I found the room very quiet, despite how busy it was. I saw a two other dogs in the hotel, both were on the second floor. Free breakfast, WiFi and parking. A area to refuel water in the breakfast room. The mattress looked brand new, and the linen clean. My room had an odor to it, but not worth switching. Very close to Salt Flats which is a must see! They do allow well behaved dogs to stay in the room unattended but note that they will contact you if there are two complaints. The pet fee was $10.

Great Stay!

Holiday Inn Express Springdale - Zion National Park Area an IHG Hotel

I was so pleased with my stay. There are great grass areas for quick walks, as well as a bike path that leads behind the hotel which was perfect for early morning walks. The entire area is very walkable with shops and restaurants. We were given a room on the first floor close to a side entrance. The hotel offers balcony areas accessible to all guests with rocking chairs, which pup and I utilized (pool is not pet friendly, of course.) They do not allow dogs to be left unattended in the room. I walked the Pa’rus Trail in Zion which is pet friendly, otherwise, the Doggy Dude Ranch is right down the road.
Free WiFi, parking and a plentiful breakfast!

The Dog Friendliest!

Element Omaha Midtown Crossing

On my second cross country road trip, I was lucky to find Element Omaha. I have never felt more at ease and welcomed. Seeing a dog bowl of water at the entryway, then having someone greet my dog with a treat, comforted me immediately - as we all know how tricky it can be traveling with our pets. There is a grassy park next door with doggie bag stations. Many restaurants with patio seating - although I did not dine at any, and don’t know their pet policies. I was lucky enough to be there during their Thursday jazz concert series in the park, which was also dog friendly! The hotel is connected to a parking garage at $10 per night with in and out privileges, as well as connected to a grocery store. My room have a kitchenette in it, as well. Only gripes: continental breakfast was average, and the in room coffee maker did not look clean.
