Not a bad option in Midvale
Park Inn by Radisson Salt Lake City MidvaleFront desk staff was really great at both check-in and checkout. Lobby was also very nice. This place was dog friendly years ago, then it must have been remodeled by a new owner and it was not dog friendly. I was very pleased to hear that it was again dog friendly (maybe new owners again). Rooms were not too bad for a budget price point. Paint appeared to be peeling off of shower tub and there were some cleanliness issues. Most likely there was a superficial makeover recently, but it was still better than some neighboring hotels in this price range. If your dog is afraid of the sound of passing trains, beware that the tracks run right along the East end of the hotel. I asked to be as far away from these tracks as possible and ended up right next to them. I asked to be moved and they were able to do that.

Horrible
Discovery InnEasily one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed. I’ve seen better furniture free for the taking on the side of the road. Ancient tub and toilet and the shower did not work at all. They had a pre-authorization charge of $50 for damages (refunded on checkout). Oddly enough, if someone did damage to one of these rooms it would be an improvement. Dog poop everywhere and the whole place felt like a dirty truck stop bathroom. There is even what appears to be an old abandoned camper trailer in the middle of the back parking lot. Also pile of trash next to a can (looks like it has been like that for a while). I’ll bet it took 20 minutes to check-in (nobody in line and 2 people at the desk). Don’t waste your money here, it is an absolute dump.

Needs work
La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Salt Lake City MidvaleRoom was okay, bathroom needs some cleaning and work… just looked dirty and beat up. Small area for continental breakfast, so a little crowded. Basically just water came out of the waffle mix dispenser and actual water came out of the orange juice machine. We went across the street to a restaurant. Don’t waste your money, there are better places to stay for this price.
