PERFECT location, retro charm

Just one block from the beach, I scored a room with a view of the ocean. My dog settled in right away, and the accommodations were comfortable. The new-ish renovation has a 1960's retro vibe in keeping with the very first Motel 6's history.

You are an easy walk to shops and restaurants (my old guy loved promenading in his dog stroller) - there are a ton of places nearby with outdoor dining. We even met some friendly dog owners at nearby Chase Palm Park.

My only complaint is there was a faint smell of cigarettes, which seemed like was steeped into the walls from years ago. I ended up getting an air freshener from the nearby Rite Aid and that helped eliminate the smell.

Lots of outdoor space to explore!

My dog and I loved the pathway along the harbor, with views of downtown Long Beach and the Queen Mary, which was all lit up for the holidays. The staff was helpful and friendly, too. Check out one of the outdoor fire pits-- they were selling s'mores kits at the front desk!
