Should have been better

Hampton Inn Portsmouth Central

We had requested a first floor room which we got. However, the bathroom sink was clogged and water would not drain. I guess in a dream world a business would check the rooms to insure everything was in working order before guests checked in. So understanding that these things do happen and businesses are reactive and not proactive, we called the front desk to see if she would send someone down to clean the trap. We decided it would be easier to just get the trap cleaned rather than repack to go to another room.

The person that showed up was the front desk person. She apologized, but she was the only one on duty (no maintenance personnel). So not only was she responsible for checking in people but taking care of room issues. She came with a trap cleaner but could not free it so she decided to relocate us to another room. She went back to check in some more guests before returning and stating the only open rooms available were on the second floor.
We packed up and moved our stuff up the stairs to the second floor which seemed easier than getting carts, going down the halls to the elevator, etc. Our dog did go up the stairwell but not without some coaching because of the echo noises.

Not the motel’s fault but the dog was unable to relax because of the noises she heard so we didn’t get much sleep.
What was the motels fault was that house cleaning didn’t knock first before coming in and just burst through the door while we were getting dressed. Isn’t knocking first part of housecleaning 101?

No one was at the front desk when we checked out so after waiting for a bit I just left the card and departed.
