Not a bad place to stay, not a great place to stay

Extended Stay America Select Suites Lexington Park Pax River

The best part of this hotel is the quiet location due largely to the fact that the office park it is located next to seems deserted. So once you are in there is little traffic to interrupt walking the dog. The surrounding parking lots don't have a ton of green space but there is plenty enough to take care of "business". Pet fee policy cited on BF was accurate, $25/night. The room was a little worn but adequate. The 2 negatives: 1.) Upon check in the agent asked "did you know about our $100 deposit requirement?" Well, no, I had not. In addition to the room rate, fees and taxes they want to charge you an extra $100 (refundable). Not just pet owners but all guests. In all my years traveling for business and pleasure this was a first. I'll come back and update this if I don't get my $ back soon. And 2.) no in room coffee. Sorry, not having that simple cheap amenity when you are paying over $100/night is simply unacceptable. For me that alone is enough to take away 1 1/2 bones.

Great place for our JRT

Marina Cafe and Pub

The other reviews were spot on. We visited on a perfect early Sept evening, sun out, sail boats drifting by. I had been expecting it to be crowded and difficult to park. Wrong on both counts. And the outside patio seating was spacious with no adjacent foot or vehicle traffic so very good for the dog. The food was great, too.

Afterwards we drove through downtown area and it was near gridlock with people and cars. the Marina Cafe was a perfect alternative to that.
