Okay for pets
Hampton Inn & Suites Roanoke AirportI liked that the hotel was so easy on/easy off from 81. I was not enthralled with the room, as it was on the third floor (we coped!) and it had white bedspreads which made me nervous. The room was clean except for a piece of unpopped popcorn on one of the beds. The people next door were very loud and it was easy to hear them thru the wall unfortunately. Ultimately, though, what I found surprising was that the check-in person didn't offer any information about where the potty area was, or where to park, or really much of anything. It didn't feel welcoming. The check-out person was much friendlier. Overall I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could - there was enough good about the lodging that I would stay there again, but I didn't love it as much as I thought I would based on the other ratings.
Very good
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Roanoke SalemEasy to access from the highway, general area seemed safe, front desk staff was cheerful and efficient, and the room was very clean (yay! very important factor). There were quite a number of other guests with dogs which I thought reassuring. One small demerit is that the coffee at the breakfast station wasn't available for what would have been my second cup. It was delicious, so I suppose other guests drank more of it than expected. I didn't eat anything while there, so can't comment on the food. The other small demerit is that the HVAC unit was terribly noisy, rattling loudly every time it kicked on. But other than the coffee not being replenished promptly, and the HVAC noise, it was a very satisfactory overnight. I would stay there again.
