Throwback Motel

We stayed at the Rustic Motel in two adjoining rooms with our Mini Schnauzer for one night during a driving trip from Scottsdale AZ to the Chicago area. I had always wanted to stay at a vintage motel. The owner was very nice and friendly and was able to accommodate our request to change to the two rooms from the one we had originally booked. The rooms were clean, had cute coverlets and fit the bill for a reasonably-priced overnight stay. I appreciated the area with the table and chair as I had to do work on my laptop in the evening. I have to take a bone off because there were several folks who seemed to live there with their doors open, smoking and staring us down. It made us a little uncomfortable so we only left the rooms when we had to. Also, we were on the first floor and there was constant noise from people running around upstairs, going on as late as 2:00 AM. I cranked up the air conditioning in the room to try to drown out the noise and was able to sleep the rest of the night. I am not sure if I will have the opportunity to stay there again but overall Rustic Motel is a good value.
