Good location, bad room

The hotel had a great location - across the river area and with parks on each side. It could have had better lighting at night - I did not feel comfortable walking out any entrance other than the front. All the staff and guests were very friendly. Check in was easy. Parking was pricey ($28) but secure and well lit. We booked a King (didn’t need two beds) and requested a feather free room because of my allergies. I thought I would have a choice of rooms -whatever was still available-because that’s what the reservation indicated (garden, street, or courtyard) but was told the room was assigned because of the feather free request. The room was spacious and modern but it definitely smelled. They should remove the carpets since the first two floors are specifically for pets. It was WAY at the end of the building where they were doing construction and faced a busy street corner with a light, so not only was it noisy it was also rumbling. There was a red light camera outside and several folks got a ticket - the flash came through the curtains until I pulled them super tight together. The bed was super spongy. While my dog can sleep through anything, I can’t, and I slept very badly. My hope was that the free coffee would be reviving but it was really tasteless. We will not return to this particular hotel. If location is all that matters to you, this could be a good choice. If noise and smells bother you, not so much...
