Get What You Pay For

Astoria Hotel and Event Center

The Astoria Hotel is perfect if you’re looking for a budget stay.

We stayed with our pup & were put on the first floor by the side door, which sounds great, but there was no grass at all for the dog to go to the bathroom. The hotel is completely surrounded by concrete, and the nearest patch of grass is at the complete opposite end of the parking lot, so those late night potty breaks are not easy.

The rooms were clean enough, but definitely outdated. We were placed directly next to another room with two dogs, which made for a noisy end of the hall.

The hotel also charged us more than our original invoice and when I sent an email to them, it bounced back saying the address did not exist.

This hotel is perfect for a quick stay over, but I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone traveling with a dog.

Traveling with a Dog Made Easy

Candlewood Suites Dickinson ND an IHG Hotel

This hotel was amazing. By far one of the best hotel’s we’ve stayed in with our dog. Upon checking in, we were handed a dog treat, a poo bag & a magnet for the room that let the house keepers know we had a dog inside.

We were put on the first floor, next to side door that opened up to a medium sized grassy area for easy potty breaks.

The rooms were fairly spaced out, which is great for a puppy who isn’t perfectly crate trained yet & sometimes whines at night. They also let us know that no one was in the room across from us, to calm our nerves over our noisy pup. (Note: *We were passing through during COVID, so I’m expecting capacity was lower than usual.)

We stayed in a suite with a kitchenette that had everything we needed. The bathroom was clean, great water pressure & the beds were super comfy. We were pleased to find all the trash cans were under the sinks & in the cabinets, so the dog couldn’t get into them.

Our room far exceeded our expectations (especially for under $100!) & we will absolutely be staying here again if we are ever passing through Dickinson.
