Chadron State Park Cabins

Chadron State Park Campground

Spent Memorial Day weekend in one of the cabins at Chadron State Park. The park looked really nice with lots of trails for dogs to use. But there is a major tick infestation problem in that area. Coming off of the trails, us and our dogs were covered in them and even if you get (or think you get) them all, they still get into the cabins. From what the locals told us, May and June are the worst months for ticks. If you are going to make the trip, better make sure your pups are on some serious tick treatment!

*Would've probably given this park a 3 or 4 bone rating if we got to do all the trails, but the ticks pretty much killed all of the outdoors stuff and staying in a cabin with ticks wasn't a great time.

Hot Springs, Arkansas

The Happy Hollow

If you are staying in Hot Springs, Arkansas and want to visit the National Park with your pup, this is the place to stay! It's an older hotel, but the bed is one of the comfiest I've ever slept in and the staff was very accommodating. Called them to let them know I would be checking in around midnight (after the office was closed) and they hooked up the key in a lock box on the door and gave me the room number.
A++++ Hotel!
Thanks!
