Top-notch
My Place Hotel - Davenport/Quad Cities IABest hotel of our entire road trip. Immaculate room, full-size fridge, microwave, comfy bed. The acres of parkland between the motel and the North Platte River were just what our dogs needed after too many hours in the car. We were beyond satisfied.
A cheap lifesaver
Budget Inn ExpressWhen we unexpectedly got stranded in Sheridan after colliding with a deer, our wonderful BringFido concierge quickly found us lodging at the Budget Inn Express. It's not fancy, but was just fine for the three days we ended up staying till able to get back on the road. There's a big grassy courtyard to walk the dogs, and a few blocks away the Little Goose Creek Parkway is a several mile paved (and plowed!) pedestrian walkway along the creek.
Great older motel
Motel 8 Rock SpringsWe overnighted at Motel 8 on our way through Rock Springs. It was a 4.5 bone stay in a perfectly adequate older motel. The staff, as well as the motel were dog-friendly. Being short-staffed, as everywhere is right now, the room wasn't ready when we arrived. They hustled to finish cleaning it, ushered us in, made sure we were comfortable, and loved up on our two border collies. I was really impressed with their attitude. The motel is no-frills, perfectly comfortable, and we'll happily stay there on our way back on this road trip.
As other reviewers have mentioned, it has a small fenced pet area with sand and weeds. The dogs were happy to make use of it, but we also made two trips to the Bitter Creek Dog Park, about 5 minutes (by car) away, which was a great place to stretch their legs and go for a wade. All in all, we were completely satisfied.
Enthusiastic staff
Hampton Inn Salt Lake City/LaytonI don't give 5-star ratings, but we had a great overnight at the Hampton Inn Layton. The staff were dog-friendly and happy to accommodate us with a room on the first floor near a door. The room was comfortable and just outside was a grassy potty spot with poop bags and trashcan. There was ample space to walk the dogs through empty parking areas belonging to buildings behind the hotel, with grass berms and trees/shrubs for further sniffing/pottying.
I appreciated the mask mandate and the Covid hygiene the hotel practices. I chose to skip the complimentary dinner and breakfast and eat in my room, as mingling is not in my comfort zone yet. The mini-fridge and microwave sufficed (there was no freezer in the mini-fridge). All in all, a welcoming and comfortable place to stay.
Standard good La Quinta
La Quinta by Wyndham Orem University Pwy ProvoOur overnight at the Provo/Orem La Quinta was just fine. It was easy to access from the Interstate, and standard La Quinta feel (ie pet-friendly). There are probably lots of good walking/hiking trails nearby, but for a one-night stay we just walked the dogs around the grass and parking lot.
Nice motel
Four Corners InnWe made a last-minute reservation at Four Corners Inn after snow interfered with our camping trip in SE Utah. It was a pleasant motel stay: clean, comfortable beds, and good hiking in the area. The one drawback is no lawn area for pottying the dogs, but hey, this is a desert. We just walked around the block and let the dogs find a convenient place. I'd happily stay here again.
