My dog was KILLED there

The Woof Lodge

I previously gave them 5 stars on other platforms but have to change it to one. Also beware they delete negative reviews from their Facebook page. The reason I have change my review is my dog was KILLED there by another dog. Please see my story below. I wanted to share my story in hopes that I can prevent this from happening to anyone else.
On September 25th my husband dropped my two dogs, Zooey and Teddy, off at The Woof Lodge in Arden at about 7:30am. We've been going there for about 4 years and my dogs absolutely loved it there so we never had any thoughts that something like this could happen. At about 8:55 I get a text from the daycare owner to call her. I called immediately and was told "Zooey was attacked by another dog, it's bad. I was going to take her to the emergency vet in Hendersonville but it's saying it's in Spartanburg so maybe I'll go to Reach." I told her no, take her to Western in Hendersonville and told her exactly where it was. My husband and I were both working from home that day so we just jumped in the car and went. We got almost to the exit for the Emergency Vet and my husband noticed the daycare owner's car on the side of the interstate. We called her instantly and she said "she's gone". My husband said just get her to the vet! We beat her there by maybe 4-5 minutes. They took Zooey in but she was already gone. The vet that worked on her said it was some of the worst injuries he had ever seen, they couldn't even find a vein in her paws because of the injuries.
The story we were told by daycare was that there had been 5 dogs outside to go potty since it was raining that day. They claim they were supervised. Zooey was part Border Collie and loved to herd so she was trying to round everyone up to go back in. The dog that attacked growled so Zooey ran off to the other side of the yard to play. They said the other dog zeroed in on her and just ran her down. They claimed that the employee tried to get the dog off and was also bitten in the process and had "24 stitches". I have that part in a text message. The following Thursday I was advised to make a report with Animal Control since we were told a human was also bitten. The deputy went out to do an investigation and discovered that the employee wasn't bit at all. They said he had some scratches from claws but nothing as severe as what was described. I even went back to make sure I read my text correctly and it clearly states 24 stitches.
We haven't heard from the daycare since. The other couple who owned the dog that attacked apparently paid our vet bills (if you're on here, we're so appreciative and we're not at all mad at you guys). My dogs were "VIP clients" who had a prepaid pass, nothing has been refunded and obviously Teddy will never go back there.
I don't know if somebody was actually watching the dogs or if they got distracted for a moment and it happened that quickly. I don't think it was malicious on the part of the daycare, however, I don't think they are properly equipped or trained in how to handle these instances. The dog that attacked was at least twice the size of my pup and even in pictures from 11 days prior to the attack I could clearly see the dog was stressed being in that environment. I think they didn't recognize the signs and now two families have lost their dogs because of this (I was told the other dog was put down).
I just want the community to be aware of what happened. To my knowledge, based on the website and their facebook, other clients have not been informed of this incident. When we picked Teddy up right after losing Zooey, they were still taking in dogs like nothing had happened. I wish I would've told the people walking in but I was in so much shock it didn't occur to me.
I'm happy to answer any questions and do have documentation to back up my claims. Hug you fur-babies a little tighter this evening, I had no idea I would lose mine.
