Pleasant stay

I was hiking in SE Minnesota, working my way north, and found myself in Winona as it was getting dark. I stopped at Holiday Inn to inquire about pet-friendly room availability. Fortunately they had a room for me and my large labrador. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We were very close to the doors, and there was a large outdoor area for pet use. I was told of a pet fee, but wasn't charged anything extra at checkout. My only disappointment was the rule of no pets in the room alone (in all fairness, my dog would most likely have barked if left alone). I wasn't able to enjoy the breakfast because (understandably) dogs weren't allowed in the breakfast area. I didn't ask them, but the staff was very friendly and helpful - they probably would have been willing to keep an eye on my dog while I grabbed breakfast to eat in my room. I would suggest trying that if you stay. In all, this was a very enjoyable stay.
