A friendly staff can't compensate for the shortcomings of the facility. The room had trickling water from the bathroom faucet -- running would be an overstatement -- and it never warmed up beyond tepid. The dining facility was mediocre and the hotel didn't even offer free morning coffee -- almost a given at most places these days. All of this might be understandable, except that it's one of the pricier hotels in the neighborhood. For just a few dollars more, a dog-friendly, five-star hotel called The Jefferson is available just one block away.
