Inexpensive stay
Motel 6 Walterboro SCFor the price it was fine for a night on the road. No carpet (good for dogs), spacious room, fairly clean, no frills. But noisy; we could hear people outside talking and upstairs moving furniture until late at night. Air conditioning didn’t have a fan “on” option, so make sure you have a white noise app!
Ok stay
Baymont by Wyndham SanteeThe room was recently refurbished with new bath, flooring, beds, pillows - which was good. Also good, direct access to the parking lot. Just a block from 95 and there are several restaurants right there. Bad is that the walls are paper thin. I use a white noise app, which helps to disguise strange noises for the pups and keep them quiet, but I dropped a dog bowl early in the a.m. trying to get on the road and it woke up the infant next door who fussed loudly for 1/2 hour. Bad placement choice by the front desk! Also the new platform beds have a small space at the head if the bed, under the headboard, where a 10 pound dog can squeeze in to look for food and other probably yucky stuff. My dachshund found the remains of someone’s dinner and my husband had to lift the mattress off the bed to pull the dog out between the slats! Not a good bed design for a small dog and cat friendly room.
