Nice room & friendly, helpful staff

Best Western Plus Inn at Valley View

I asked to be away from other occupied rooms since my dog alerts me to any noise. We were placed at the end of the hall, right next to the double door exit to the dog walking area. This was a very busy area, so I didn't sleep well due to the doors slamming & lots of talking in the hall. The outer door card key entry was broken, so when it was locked after dark, we had to walk all the way to the front desk to get help getting back into the hotel. The dog walk area was very hilly with a huge drop off into a crevasse! If a dog was off leash it could easily plummet off the edge! It's not safe for humans either. One slip on wet grass could be a disaster! The hot breakfast was good though they put cheese in the eggs, which I couldn't see & I'm allergic to it. It's a challenge to find amongst the other hotels & restaurants, but we managed with GPS to find it. Though it says it's near the airport, I didn't hear any aircraft noise.

Will do in a pinch

Econo Lodge Marion I-81

Due to a huge football game in Knoxville, TN, this was the 1st dog friendly place I could find for hundreds of miles for less than $200 a night. One big problem was the lack of noise dampening in the walls. My dog alerts me to any noise so it was difficult to sleep before midnight or after 5 am. The floors were paneled so no worry about water droplets around the water bowl. The staff was very friendly & helpful, however I thought the price for the room was more than it deserved. The TV didn't work until the converter box was finally changed out. The phone did not work at all. The continental breakfast was coffee, oj or cranberry juice, instant oatmeal & honey buns. It was enough to get me on the road.

Beautiful room!

La Quinta by Wyndham Monahans

I was given a quiet room, as requested, with not much traffic, and it was lovely! It included Direct TV, and hot or cold breakfast in the morning. The parking lot was well lit, and the staff were all very friendly & helpful. There were lots of pillows and towels available, which is rare these days. I was very comfortable, and so was my Havanese!

Renovated & clean, but lacking

Green Country Inn

For the price, this room was lacking the basics - no coffee maker, no alarm clock, small, thin towels, and packets of soap & shampoo that I could not open without scissors. Only 2 tiny square pillows on a King Sized bed were not sufficient either. The breakfast was only 3 choices of cereal & orange juice. I'm allergic to milk, so There was nothing for me at all.

However, the room was clean, & the air conditioning worked, and it was quiet. I had asked for a quiet room with little or no traffic, and I was at the end of the row, near the grassy area, which was convenient for dog walking. The dog fee was $20, not the $10 that was shown on BringFido. The Direct TV was great, & the TV was large. There was also a refrigerator & microwave. The owner was very nice, and I suspect, new at hotel management, so I hope improvements will be forthcoming. He was not available at checkout, so I couldn't make any comments directly. The motel was located right next to the I-40 freeway, & fast food & gasoline were only a short drive away.
