Lovely stay, be specfic about room location
Hampton Inn Amelia Island at Fernandina BeachThe Hampton Inn Amelia Island at Fernandina Beach provided us with a lovely alternative to boarding our pooch. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room clean and spacious, and the location convenient to the beach and a short drive to the historical district. Be aware: when making your reservation, ask for a room that is NOT at the far end of the hall on the first floor. There is an exterior door to the pool just inches away, and it is used constantly by customers and staff early in the morning and late, late at night. The door slams shut; it cannot be closed gently, and even if so, most customers are not considerate about such things (especially those who are going to the pool at 1:00 am). If your dog is sensitive to sounds, the banging door will keep him/her up all night and/or will ensure that your plan to sleep in is only a plan. The staff was kind enough to move us to a different room for our second night, and it was lovely.
