Not pet friendly in chilly weather

Sunset Cantina

Believe me when I say this place is NOT pet friendly if it is remotely chilly outside. Our waiter Tony complained we were sitting outside because he was cold, and when we mentioned we had the pup he told us we should have left her at home. There was a dog bowl left outside so clearly there were other pets around (I brought my pup’s own bowls and food/water, so we literally asked for nothing for her), and another large party was seated outside which didn’t seem to get the same grief from their server. Tony seemed to have a generally negative demeanor and left us forgotten. After complaining to the hostess, the general manager Ian took over and took care of us. His service was phenomenal and we had a conversation about Tony’s behavior afterwards, which we explained really put a damper on our birthday celebration. Overall we left disappointed. I would understand if we had an ill-behaved pup, but she is very calm and got tons of love from other patrons and employees who praised her manners. Also, considering this is Boston in the fall, to have employees complain about the weather and guilt us to sit inside because they’re uncomfortable is unacceptable, especially during COVID times. If servers don’t want to wait on tables outside, then don’t offer outdoor seating or at the very least provide heat lamps/appropriate uniforms.
