A Disastrous Experience
The Westin Fort LauderdaleDespite being a Gold Elite Marriott Bonvoy member and having had positive experiences at other Marriott locations, my recent stay at The Westin Fort Lauderdale was nothing short of a disaster. We chose this hotel specifically because it advertised itself as pet-friendly and we wanted our dogs to be part of our engagement celebrations. We even paid an additional pet fee for this privilege.
However, when we had to briefly step out for a pre-scheduled appointment, we received complaints about our dogs barking. Before we could even resolve the issue, the management decided we were to be immediately evicted from the hotel. The staff and management were incredibly rude, inflexible, and showed no empathy or understanding for our situation.
The situation was escalated to an absurd level when police were called to escort us out of the hotel, causing emotional distress, embarrassment, and making us late to our own engagement party. I am in the process of requesting a full refund for both my room and my family’s separate room and considering transferring my Marriott points to another loyalty program. I also expect that the staff and management responsible for this treatment will be disciplined.
If you’re looking for a genuinely pet-friendly experience and staff that understands customer service, I strongly advise avoiding The Westin Fort Lauderdale. This entire experience has severely damaged my faith in the Marriott brand.
