Terribly Loud

Red Roof Inn North Charleston Coliseum

We arrived on a Sunday evening. The room was sufficient; had a nice shower and a standard type King bed. Not a lot of room for our 3 crates (200s) but it worked. The complaint I have is that the noise never stopped. People were milling around outside, calling loudly to each other, which drove our Scotties crazy. So every 20-30 min there were voices that woke me up and as they passed our door our dogs would get concerned and bark. This went on until well after 2 a.m. Then about 4:30 a.m. the noise began again, I think this time it was construction workers as they were hitching up trailers and calling back and forth about some job. To top it all off, we were in a downstairs room and the bed above us squeaked and was very apparent that the couple was enjoying themselves.

The people milling around didn't "go away" or seem to be guests. When I took our pups out to potty in the morning, one man was sitting on the stairs (at 5 a.m.) and looked like he maybe had been there all night? He got some good growls and barks as the dogs thought he looked suspicious and when we came back he was not there. Oh and no good areas to potty... just a few small patches of dirt covered with trash and broken glass. If you have a choice, try a different motel.

Go Somewhere Else

North Charleston Lodge

We arrived after 8 pm with a guaranteed reservation. While in the lobby checking in, a current guest recommended that I check the room thoroughly as she had to ask that their room be cleaned before they moved into it and they were only given one towel for her family of four.

When we arrived at the room, there was a roach crawling up the bedroom wall; the shower curtain was (half) ripped off the shower rod; the bed linens were stained and soiled; the floors were dirty; there was only one bath towel.

When I went back to the office to cancel our reservation, the clerk was able to refund quickly. (Seemed she knew all the steps to do it as if she did it frequently.) She seemed unfazed that there were roaches crawling on the walls.

Besides the room, people were milling around the hotel walkways (outside) and calling loudly to each other. They didn't seem to be "guests" or seemed to frequent the place often... ? Gave us a very uneasy feeling about the clientele and what actually was going on there.
