Previously the home to several thousand Native Americans, this park's purpose is to protect the 54-acres that includes six earthen mounds, a plaza, village site, borrow pits, and a defensive ditch. The earthen mounds were constructed by Native American tribes for numerous reasons, including for burial and ritual purposes. Please note that dogs aren't permitted inside buildings at the park.
