The varied scenery switches between hardwood hammock, limestone outcrop, and pine forest. Even though you can't check out the museum, you can still have a great day on the hiking trails that take in high river bluffs and limestone outcroppings, swamp forest, hammocks, and piney flatwoods alongside the Suwannee River. Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park Dogs are welcome at Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park, a pet-friendly park in Olustee, FL, that commemorates the site of Florida's largest Civil War battle. Way back in 1864, there were 10,000 soldiers battling it out among the pine trees in this forest. The park became the state's first historic site in 1912 when soldiers who fought the battle were still alive to meet there for reunions. Pets are welcome on the one mile trail that follows the battle lines, but are not permitted inside the building or at the battle reenactment. See Details
