  3. Pop out of each mold and serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the freezer.

PB & Yay! Dog Biscuits

“If you really loved me, you would have made more than five!”

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 – 3 cups whole-wheat flour

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Use a mixer to combine pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and eggs on medium-high for 2 minutes. Stir in 2½ cups flour at low speed, beating just until incorporated. Add additional flour, ¼ cup flour at a time, until the dough is no longer sticky.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface. Roll out the dough to ¼-inch thick using a rolling pin.
  4. Using heart-shaped cookie cutters, shape and place each cookie onto a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet.
  5. Bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown around the edges.
  6. Cool completely and serve to your four-legged Valentine. Store any leftovers in an airtight container.

Carob-Covered Bacon

Fido will love you more than bacon (and that’s saying a lot) for this treat!

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bacon, cut into 2-inch strips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • ½ cup carob chips (carob is a dog-friendly, safe substitute for chocolate)

Directions

  1. Slice bacon into 2-inch strips. Prepare the bacon by placing it on an aluminum foil-covered cookie pan and transferring it to a cold oven. Turn on the oven at 400 degrees. Cook until bacon is brown and crispy, approximately 12-15 minutes. Remove bacon from the oven and place onto a couple of sheets of paper to absorb the grease. Pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Melt ½ cup of carob chips in a microwave-safe bowl, uncovered, on half- or medium power for 30-second intervals, stopping to stir between cooking.
  3. Once the carob chips are melted to a smooth consistency, whisk in the mixture until it is incorporated and glossy in appearance.
  4. Line a plate or cookie sheet with parchment paper. Place cooked bacon on the sheet. Use a fork to drizzle the melted carob over the bacon strips.
  5. Allow to cool and serve to your lucky Valentine’s pup!
