For running enthusiasts and their four-legged pals, it’s time to shake off the winter blues and reacquaint themselves with the great outdoors. 1. Hippie Dash 5K
Break out Fido’s tie-dye tank top and head to the Sunshine State for the Hippie Dash 5K at Safety Harbor’s Downtown Marina. Only two-legged runners can race the 5K, but doggy joggers are free to stretch their paws on the one-mile Walk, Woof & Roll. Feel misty breezes on your face as you trot along the beach and through downtown Safety Harbor. All walkers receive a t-shirt and medal, and prizes will be awarded for the most far-out hippie attire. Registration for the 5K costs $35 per person and $25 per person for the Walk, Woof & Roll. All proceeds benefit Goodwill’s services for people with barriers to employment.
The Hippie Dash 5K will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 8 a.m. Stick around for the post-race party to enjoy free beer and munchies while a guest DJ spins groovy 60s tunes. If you’re staying in the area, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Clearwater offers a comfy spot to rest weary paws.
2. Doggie Dash: 5K Fun Run & Community Fair
Galloping Golden Retrievers can sprint to the finish at the Doggie Dash: 5K Fun Run & Community Fair at the Lake Redding Park Gazebo and Pavilion in Redding, CA. Participants can run or walk with their dogs, dress in creative costumes and compete for prizes. The event also features a vibrant Community Fair offering dog-friendly activities, food, music, a photo booth and sweet swag from local vendors. Registration for the Doggie Dash is $25 for adults, $15 for youth (ages 8-17) and $85 for groups of four, and all proceeds benefit Haven Humane Society.
The Doggie Dash: 5K Fun Run & Community Fair will take place on March 15, 2025 at 10 a.m. The Americana Modern Hotel offers accommodations with all the creature comforts and is less than two miles from the park.
3. Bark in the Park - 5K Fun Run & Walk
Mutt marathoners can put their long-distance speed to the test at The Cornell Richard P. Riney Canine Health Center Bark in The Park 5K, presented by Purina Cornell CHAMP, Canine Healthy Aging & Mobility Program at the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park. It’s a non-competitive, family-friendly and inclusive 5K, but make sure your prancing pup has the endurance to compete. The registration cost is $50, and the proceeds help fund The Cornell Riney Canine Health Center’s efforts to improve the health and well-being of dogs everywhere, ensuring they live longer, healthier, and happier lives.
Bark in the Park - 5K Fun Run & Walk takes place on March 30, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. until noon. You and your pooped pooch can recharge your batteries in The City That Never Sleeps at the Empire Hotel, located just one block from Central Park.
4. Chesterfield Outdoor Fest Run
Bring the whole family, including Fido, to the Chesterfield Outdoor Fest Run at the Chesterfield Fairgrounds for a day of fun! Kicking off Chesterfield County’s Outdoor Fest, this dog-friendly event will host several runs for all ages including a dog-friendly 5K, a kid’s one-mile race for those 15 and under, and Richmond’s first-ever Canicross event. Canicross is a team sport consisting of a person and a dog running together that originated in Europe. After exercising, hang around for entertainment, food trucks and live demos. Registration fees range from $15 to $27. The race benefits Live Red Foundation’s free fitness programs which teach life skills to children in low-opportunity communities.
Chesterfield Outdoor Fest Run will be held from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. on March 31, 2025. Fido can kick up his paws and rest afterward at La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Richmond South.
5. Annual Fast & Furriest 5K/1M
Speedy four-legged joggers should plan on attending the Annual Fast & Furriest 5K/1M at Heritage Farm Park in Walkersville, MD. This fundraising event welcomes leashed dogs to run or walk the paved course located within the park. After the race, there will be awards, a silent auction, a raffle, vendors and food trucks on site. Registration starts at $27.50 and benefits Operation Paws for Homes, an all-breed rescue organization.
The Annual Fast & Furriest 5K/1M will be held from 7:30 a.m. to noon on April 27, 2025. You and your tail-wagging running buddy can take a post-run siesta at the nearby Hampton Inn & Suites Frederick-Fort Detrick.
6. Mighty Dog 5K and 10K
Get your sprinting Springer Spaniel ready for a beach dash at the Mighty Dog 5K & 10K in Folsom Lake. Furry runners and walkers will be divided into three weight divisions, plus a Canicross group and the top three finishers in each division will receive special awards. Each canine competitor receives a custom Mighty Dog Finisher Medal and a Mighty Dog Tag. Pups can quench their thirst at the water station at the course’s halfway point and bags of treats and hot meals will be available after the event. Advance registration for the 5K is $55 and on race day, $60, and the 10K costs $60 in advance and $65 on race day.
The Mighty Dog 5K & 10K starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025. Rest and refuel with complimentary cookies and dog bones at Larkspur Landing Folsom, located eight miles from Folsom Lake.
7. Run for the Dogs 5K
Zip down to Blue Star Memorial Woods for the Run for the Dogs 5K in Glenview, IL. You and your lovable Labrador can run or walk the flat, scenic 5K course. With awesome swag for all dog lovers and runners, this race is a sure thing for a great doggy good time! For registering, you'll receive a t-shirt, a finisher medal, a dog charm, and treats for you and your pup at the finish line. Early registration costs $25 and $50 on race day. Proceeds benefit the Chicagoland Lab Rescue.
Run for the Dogs will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 8:30 and 10 a.m. If Fido needs a relaxing spot to ice down his paws, book a room at Renaissance Chicago Glenview Suites Hotel.
8. Hair of the Dog 5K and Beer Mile
Runners, walkers and breeds of all kinds are invited to throw down at the Hair of the Dog 5K and Beer Mile at Atypical Brewery & Barrelworks in Minot, ND. Racers can make a run for it in a traditional, timed 5K race at 10 a.m. or attempt the Beer Mile at noon, when human racers drink four beers during a one-mile run. After you’ve burnt off some energy, hang around to watch the Weiner Dog Derby at 3 p.m. when Daschunds and Daschund-mixes dash toward the finish line! The event will also feature food trucks, pet-friendly vendor booths, fundraising events, and local rescues all day. All human participants for the 5K will get a signature mug and a free post-run beer at the brewery. “Pawticipants” in the derby race will receive a treat bag and a custom race bandana. Registration costs $20-$55, and benefits local rescues.
The Hair of the Dog 5K and Beer Mile takes place on May 17, 2025, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Hampton Inn & Suites Minot Airport offers spacious pet-friendly rooms suites and less than two miles from the brewery.
9. Dog Trot 3K/5K Fun Run
Furry athletes will be bolting to Game Farm Park on the banks of the Stuck River for the Dog Trot 3K/5K Fun Run. This family-oriented fun run event kicks off the award-winning Petpalooza festival. The chip-timed race will start and finish in the same location. You'll have the chance to follow a flat, easy, and enjoyable 3K or 5K route for all ages and ability levels. Awards will be given to the fastest in six age groups. After the fun run, enjoy live performances and pet competitions, browse through vendors and adoption booths, and refuel at the beer garden and food trucks. Registration costs $25-$35 per person.
The Dog Trot 3K/5K Fun Run starts at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025. For comfy pet-friendly accommodations, sprint over to La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Auburn.
10. Lycoming County SPCA Paws Run
Team up with your cross-country canine to conquer the course at the Lycoming County SPCA Paws Run in Williamsport Community Park. Two- and four-legged duos can enter the 2.5-mile run, 2.5-mile walk or 5-mile run. Water stations and waste receptacles are positioned along the course. The top five combos in each chase will be awarded prizes, and all those who register receive a free t-shirt and a colorful doggy bandana (while supplies last). Registration prior to the race costs $30 per person and is $35 per person on race day. Proceeds from the event will assist the Lycoming County SPCA.
The Lycoming County SPCA Paws Run will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 9 a.m. You and your hungry hound can cook a hearty post-race meal in a kitchen suite at the pet-friendly Candlewood Suites Williamsport.
