Pets in the Cabin
Small cats and dogs can travel in the cabin if the combined weight of the pet and carrier does not exceed 17 lbs (8 kg). Only 1 pet is permitted to travel in each carrier in the cabin. The fee for this service is 165 EUR for flights to Europe and $190 to USA, Brazil and West Africa.
Pets in Checked Baggage
Animals weighing more than 17 lbs (8 kg) can travel as checked baggage in a well-ventilated area of the cargo hold. The maximum weight for medium animals in a carrier is 70 lbs (32 kg) and large animals in a carrier is 99 lbs (45kg). For medium animals, the fee for this service is $220 between Europe and Cabo Verde and $250 between U.S. and Cabo Verde. For large animals, the fee for this service is $275 between Europe and Cabo Verde and $310 between U.S. and Cabo Verde.
Carrier Guidelines
For pets traveling in the cabin, carriers must not exceed 21" x 14" x 10" (55 cm x 35 cm x 25 cm). Carriers should be large enough to allow animals to turn around inside, have a compartment for food and water, and the floor should be leak-proof and covered in an absorbent material. For pets traveling as checked baggage, carriers must be large enough for animals to lie down, turn around, and stand up comfortably inside.
Other Restrictions
The following breeds of dog are considered dangerous by Cabo Verde Airlines, and won't be allowed to travel: Pitbull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Mastiff, American Pit Bull, Staffordshire Bullterrier, Bullterrier, American Bulldog, Argentine DGO, Brazilian Fila, Kangal (Karabash) Kaukasian Owtscharka, and Neapolitan Mastino.
