Pets in the Cabin
Small dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, hamsters and birds can travel in the cabin with Canadian North. The combined weight of your pet and carrier must not exceed 20 lbs (9 kg). Pets must remain inside their carrier underneath the seat in front of you for the duration of your journey. The fee for animals traveling in the cabin is $86.25 each way.
Pets in Checked Baggage
Larger animals can travel as checked baggage with Canadian North. Passengers can send up to 2 animals of the same species in the same carrier. The flat rate for animals being transported as checked baggage is $226.05.
Pets in Cargo
If you need to transport your pet alone, Canadian North offers a cargo service for animals over eight weeks. The flat rate for pets traveling as cargo is $226.05.
Carrier Guidelines
For pets traveling in the cabin, carriers must not exceed the dimensions of 19" x 16" x 9" (48 cm x 40 cm x 22 cm) on 737 Aircraft and 18" x 8" x 9" (46 cm x 20 cm x 22 cm) on ATR Aircraft. Carriers must have good ventilation on at least 2 sides and a leak-proof bottom. Hard-sided plastic and soft-sided carriers are permitted, while cardboard boxes are not allowed. For pets traveling as checked baggage, carriers should not exceed the following dimensions 21" x 16" x 15" (53 cm x 40 cm x 38 cm) on 737 Aircraft and 21" x 16" x 15" (53 cm x 40 cm x 38 cm) on ATR Aircraft. Animals must be able to stand up, turn around, and lie down comfortably inside the carrier. For pets traveling as cargo, carriers must not exceed the dimensions of 21" x 16" x 15"(53 cm x 40 cm x 38 cm). No carrier should exceed 30" (76 cm).
