Small dogs, cats, and exotic birds can travel in the cabin if the combined weight of the pet and carrier does not exceed 17 lbs (8 kg). Up to 2 pets can travel in the same carrier if they remain under the combined weight limit. Animals should remain inside their carrier under the seat in front of you throughout the journey. Pets are charged $100 to travel in the cabin per direction.

Animals weighing over 17 lbs (8 kg) and under 220 lbs (100 kg) can be transported as checked baggage instead. Pets are charged a fee based on the total weight of the animal, the carrying case, and the food. This fee is not included in the weight of the permitted baggage allowance. Animals weighing 20-110 lbs (9-50 kg) are charged $200 per direction and animals weighing 110 - 220 (50-100 kg) are charged $400 per direction.

Animals can be transported with El Al Cargo Division if the combined weight of the pet and carrier exceeds 220 lbs (100 kg).

For pets traveling in the cabin, carriers should not exceed 16" x 7.5" x 15" (41 cm x 38 cm x 19 cm) in Economy Class and 12" x 12" x 7.5" (30 cm x 30 cm x 19 cm) in Business Class. Carriers can be hard or soft and lined with soft material, should absorb dampness and be constructed to prevent leakage. For pets traveling in the hold, carriers should be strong enough to prevent escape and keep Fido safe. Additionally, the door must be secured to prevent the animal escaping.

Pets are not permitted in the cabin on flights to Johannesburg, London and Hong Kong.
