Eurowings

Eurowings is a low-cost German airline based in Dusseldorf, and a subsidiary of Lufthansa. Small cats and dogs are welcome to travel in the cabin with Eurowings. Visit Website

Or call (845) 709-8332 for more information. You can use BringFido to find a pet friendly place to stay at your destination.

Pets in the Cabin

Eurowings welcomes small dogs and cats to travel in the cabin if the combined weight of the pet and carrier does not exceed 17 lbs (8 kg). Each passenger is permitted to travel with a single carrier with up to two pets inside. Animals must remain inside the carrier for the duration of the flight. The fee for transporting pets in the cabin is $55, and only allowed on short and medium haul flights.

Carrier Guidelines

For pets traveling in the cabin, carriers must not exceed 22" x 16" W x 9" D (55 cm x 40 cm x 23 cm). They must be soft-sided, not a hard shell container. Fido must be able to stand upright in the bag, turn around, and lie in a natural position when contained inside for the duration of the flight.

Other Restrictions

For safety reasons, Eurowings does not accept pets they consider to be attack dogs (e.g. pit bull terriers and Staffordshire bull terriers). Due to regulations, pets are not allowed to travel to the UK on flights with Eurowings.

    Refused a 6Kg dog

Will never book Eurowings again. I had flown on other carriers (1 regular, 1 low-cost, both European) 10 times last year with my dog. She is 6Kg and well under 8Kg including the transport bag.

Last month I had to take Eurowings, checked allowed weight and dimensions were the same as those other 2 carriers - and at the airport they refused to check us in. They made a scene about the dog being too big (again, a 6Kg dog). The bag was also within the correct dimensions. All the while my dog was calmly lying in that same transport bag, proving she is well used to it and happy. That didn't matter to them - one of the employees was particularly nasty.

I asked them to put it in writing and sign it. That required a supervisor. After a discussion I did not hear, they changed their minds and let us through.

For a nasty 30 minutes at the check-in post, holding up a queue, I thought I would not be able to fly and was considering paying a fortune I can't spend, for a last-minute alternative involving 2 layovers.

Never again with Eurowings. My dog and I don't need that kind of stress or risk. We've flown again with other carriers with the same weight limits since, no issues.

    Strict

My dog including his carrier was a little over 11kg. Eurowings wouldn’t allow my dog to fly out of BER airport in Berlin because he was overweight. Me having paid for an underweight checked bag didn’t matter. This airline is strict. Germans afterall!

    Eurowings no cancellation policy

Booked our two dogs incabin for flights to Croatia then found a petsitter. Eurowings would not allow us to cancel the reservations for the dogs unless they are deceased. Do not recall seeing that when I booked and cannot find that policy anywhere now. I guess that's 240 Euros down the drain.
