TAROM
Or call (973) 884-3254 for more information. You can use BringFido to find a pet friendly place to stay at your destination.
Pet Reservations
Pets are only allowed to travel with TAROM once they have been accepted and approved. The plane you are flying on will have an affect on how many pets are allowed in the cabin: ATR 42 - maximum 2 cages accepted; B737 - maximum 3 cages accepted; and A318 - maximum 3 cages accepted. As for the hold, there are limitations on how many pets can fly with each passenger there too. On ATR 42/72 aircraft, only 1 pet is allowed for each passenger. On all Boeing aircraft, 2 pets are allowed per passenger in separate carriers.
Pets in the Cabin
TAROM welcomes small cats and dogs with a combined weight under 17 lbs (8 kg) with a carrier in the cabin. Passengers should only bring healthy and clean pets into the cabin and are only permitted to bring one pet on board each. Fees for this service vary depending on your destination.
Pets in Checked Baggage
Cats and dogs who exceed the maximum weight to travel in the cabin on TAROM flights can be transported as checked baggage instead. The maximum combined weight for pets and carriers in the hold is 165 lbs (75 kg). Pets must be clean, healthy, harmless, odorless, and not pregnant to qualify for travel. Animals up to 6 months old from the same litter, up to 17 lbs (8 kg) each, and up to a maximum quantity of 3, may be shipped in the same carrier. A maximum of 2 adult animals of comparable size, up to 30 lbs (14 kg) each, that are accustomed to cohabitation, may be shipped in the same carrier. Fees vary depending on the destination of your travel.
Pets in Cargo
Animals and carriers that exceed 165 lbs (75 kg) can be shipped as cargo instead. Contact the Cargo Department at (+40) 21-201-3409 for more details.
Carrier Guidelines
For animals being transported in the cabin, carriers must not exceed dimensions of 16" x 10" x 8" (42 cm x 26 cm x 20 cm). The carrier should either be an IATA standard cage, or a soft carrier (fabric and waterproof). For animals being transported in the hold, carrier restrictions vary depending on the type of aircraft. For flights on ATR 42/72 aircraft, the maximum dimensions are 28" x 19" x 20" (71 cm x 50 cm x 51 cm). For Boeing 737 aircraft, the maximum carrier dimensions are 48" x 32" x 33" (122 cm x 82 cm x 84 cm). Carriers transported on each aircraft must be sturdy, meet international regulations, and have proper ventilation for your pet.
Other Restrictions
Emotional support or psychiatric service dogs are not allowed on TAROM flights.
