Mobile Motel 6

Motel 6 Mobile AL - Airport BLVD

The bones are for treatment for the dog... there was nothing geared toward her, but there was an area to walk with poop bags provided but no one told us where it was located, saw it as we left. Hotel was undergoing renovation so it was a mixed bag. Our floor was relatively clean, the room was clean but the stairwells were filthy with trash, butts and anything hands needed to touch were too dirty to do so. The room is bare, towels had old stains but were laundered, sheets were ok but hot water never really got hot enough to enjoy but at least it wasn't a cold shower. No coffee in the room. The price was good, but I'm done with Motel 6... I've had good experiences, but not the last couple of times. Life is too short. I do appreciate the lack of pet fee, but some things are just worth paying for. Hubby just told me he found an unwrapped condom in the stairwell... REALLY?

You don't always get your money's worth

Casa Bella Inn & Suites

We stayed one night in Tallahassee, FL to see a friend. Room was clean enough, 2nd floor via outside stairs because the elevator was so filthy I wouldn't let the dogs in. Non-smoking hotel with everyone smoking on the walkways. Really huge old motel to be renovated in future. Another Wyndham property that we wouldn't stay in again.

Great visit

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Hattiesburg - I-59

Lovely remodeled hotel, about a block off I-59 so much quieter than others we've recently experienced. Many breakfast foods offered in the cafe area. The only negatives is that there were no quarters available for the coin laundry on the 4th floor (got some at nearby grocery) and no Do Not Disturb signs in the room and desk clerk couldn't find any. We made our own when we went out without our pets and one appeared on our door handle when we returned... also appeared on other rooms. Friendly staff and lots of pet walk areas, with clean grounds. I would stay there again.

Rating depends on your needs

La Quinta by Wyndham San Antonio by AT&T Center

The room itself was fine...clean comfy bed, walk-in shower. TV reception was spotty with a lot of pixelating. Small, widely scattered pet relief areas. Good hot breakfast available. Inside, the noise level was low, but outside was like being next to a train station...2 large busy truck stops with diesel engines running 24 hrs. Denny's within 5 minute walk with gas station next door. Convenient to interstate travel but LOTS of travel-delaying highway construction everywhere. Night staff not particularly helpful. The four "bones" are for the convenience factor for our needs.

Weird place

Clarion Pointe Lake Jackson - Clute

The hotel was huge and mostly empty of hotel stayers, although there was a portion of the site that was occupied by long term renters (construction, contractors, etc.). As with other Red Roof Inns we stayed in, this one is being renovated, so the room we had needed help. The bed and bath linens were clean, but yellowish and some stains. One corner of the bottom sheet was ripped where it had been pulled hard to get it on the giant mattress... which was comfortable, btw. I was asked at the desk for my thoughts and I gave ones similar to these. They are having trouble finding housekeepers, too. Very little pet relief areas nearby. Maybe in a year or so, the Red Roof Inns will be better. Won't be back to that area again anyway.

Pretty bad

Red Roof Inn Lafayette LA

As with Red Roof Inns we encountered, they are all undergoing major renovations...and none too soon. It took the manager 10 minutes to leave his supervision of reno to come to the office so we could register. There was no microwave, coffee pot or hot water. We did get the coffee maker but only tepid water for shower. If the property is going to be that hard to deal with, they should close until reno is done. The only good was that a Waffle House was within an easy walk and there were good places to walk our dogs. My advice: if a description says entrance to the room is from an exterior corridor give it a wide berth.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

La Quinta Inn by Wyndham San Antonio Market Square

The GOOD: The room was larger than most "standard" King rooms & the bathroom was HUGE! The unit was immaculate, unexpected in a refreshed old motel. The bed was comfortable. Hotel right across from the historic Market Square with vendors, food booths, stores and good restaurants, all fiesta busy for pre-rodeo celebrations.

The BAD: There was NO fridge or microwave!! Even though my research was detailed, not detailed enough... only DELUXE King rooms have those. I chose based on price, never thinking those wouldn't be there. Needless to say, I made my disappointment known at check-out. Travelers have become used to "standard". All ice machines in outside hallways had been turned off due to freezing overnight temps, but there was no ice available even in the lobby. There were no signs on the soft drink machines saying to use only credit card so I lost the money I put into the change. There was MINIMAL breakfast offered, enough to get started but no seating.

The UGLY: So much road construction even the GPS was hard to follow (not the hotel's fault but very frustrating). The REALLY UGLY...NO usable pet relief areas on the property!! We were on the "back" of the hotel so crossing the street to the small patch of grass at the Police HQ was the only choice.

So... nice room, noisy area, road construction EVERYWHERE (which will someday be finished). Won't be going back... mostly because of the attitudes at the front desk.

Boutique Hotel

Vineyard Court Designer Suites Hotel

What we loved: the staff who were so accommodating when bad weather added a day to our stay. Also, the vintage, quirky feel to the place. The building started as apartments, then a hotel with some apartments for long term rent. Size of rooms normal for era of the building. Gorgeous central garden/patio that I'm sure is gorgeous in warmer months. Pet relief areas almost unusable due to wet weather so had to endure high winds and cold for short walks to driest relief areas nearby. Convenient to shopping for anything you need and for TX A&M games, as well as President Bush #1 Library and Museum. Hopefully the company that has bought this place will strive to update a little without losing the charm. Would consider another visit in warmer seasons.

One of the better ones

La Quinta by Wyndham Marshall

The room was large enough, but showed signs of hasty renovations, i.e. the ceiling painting wasn't finished, the desk chair covering was peeling. There was only 1 hanger in the closet. Our room was on the 3rd floor and the hallway carpet was badly stained, although there were no animal smells in the hall or the room. When you're on the pet floor, you can't expect pristine conditions...I think some don't realize that. The pet walk area was behind the building but without a bag receptacle. I would stay again because of price, location and overall comfort... the bed was great and a nice selection on the breakfast bar.

Poop Everywhere

Days Inn by Wyndham Augusta Washington Rd

The dog walk area we were told to use was on a hill, very trashy with full poop bucket and no one cleaning it up. Found another small area, but too small for the size of the motel. Owners' responsibility to clean up but clearly no staff cleaning either. Pet friendly rooms on the 3rd floor with outside stairs with broken concrete treads and filthy elevator. Bag breakfast. What looked like food crumbs left behind in the dressing/sink area.

Best So Far

La Quinta by Wyndham Tupelo

After staying at 2 pet friendly motels on this trip, this was by far the best. La Quinta Tupelo-modern building, clean room, hot breakfast, 24 hr coffee, snack machines. Dog walking area was large with plenty of receptacles but again, no attention being given to removing poop that owners left behind. VERY friendly staff and large enough room to be comfortable for 2 people and 2 dogs. Pet rooms on 2nd floor but elevator was clean and quick. Would definitely stay here again, even without pets.

You get what you pay for

Motel 6 Walterboro SC

The room was clean enough, though in need of painting that would have made it looks as clean as it was. Outside definitely needed painting. Dog walk area nearby was adequate but no droppings were being cleaned up...that's the pet owners' responsibility but should be checked daily by staff. The desk clerk was almost unfriendly, with only the absolutely necessary interaction to questions, however it was professional, expedient and my identity was verified. I usually try Motel 6 because their remodel helps the image and cleaning and having a known chain that accepts pets is a comfort. Will probably not stay at that one again, but will stay at one in the future.

Bristol, VA Motel 6

Motel 6 Bristol VA

Nice visit, pet friendly staff. We left our "do not disturb" sign on the door for our 5 day visit, but staff was very responsive when asked questions, etc. Some barking by other dogs, but usually just as you walked by the door. Glad our girl isn't a barker. I recommend this Motel 6 and will stay at others as we travel.
