I have just retired after 42 years behind the bar, primarily at a 4-Star hotel in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Maggie and I have been traveling around the US for the past three months, crossing things off my bucket list. She’s been the best travel companion that anyone could ever hope for!

Maggie loved it!

Trails & Tails Park

this is by far one of the nicest dog parks I have ever been to. There are vending machines, a dog wash station, plenty of poop bag dispensers, water fountains for both dogs and their humans. It’s nicely landscaped with plenty of benches and a nice gravel path around the perimeter for Maggie and into walk a few laps. Highly recommended!

By far the best

La Quinta by Wyndham Macon West

By far this has been my best hotel stay on a four month road trip. The front desk staff was attentive, the room, the hotel and grounds are clean and well kept. The area feels safe. It was nice to have the option of a real breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage and hash browns. There were other options as well. I extended my stay by one night and front desk took care of it with ease. I am impressed.

Excessive Pet Fee

Hampton Inn Princeton

Very nice hotel, good hot breakfast. For a $50 per fee, I would expect the dog waste bag dispenser to be stocked, and dog biscuits on my pillow at night. There’s no reason to charge this excessive fee when most other hotels of the same caliber charge $15-25 per per per night. I realize that the fee was given on the BringFido listing, but there wasn’t much of a selection of pet friendly hotels in the area for my one night stay.

OK for one night

Red Roof Inn Wildwood - Cape May/ Rio Grande

It’s a bare bones room right along a major highway. A few small issues with the room, such as the hair dryer Mount had broken, the outlet attached to the bedside table was broken; typical stuff for a budget hotel, but I couldn’t resist the “no pet fee”!

Nice, it’s a small apartment

Best Western Fishkill Inn & Suites

It’s a clean, well appointed studio apartment complete with a full kitchen. There’s a little construction going on at the front entrance so I had to go in the poorly marked rear door. The BringFido site lists the pet fee as $25, but it’s actually $30, a bit steep for me, but they lowered it when I pointed out the discrepancy. Another warning: it is no longer Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham; it is now a Best Western. Apparently they made the switch about a month ago, which caused a bit of confusion as I was looking for the hotel.

An ok stay

Days Inn by Wyndham Southington

The room was ok for one night. There was no problem bringing Maggie. There’s a grassy area off to the side for her to do her business. The parking lot was dirty; broken glass, used masks, etc. As I said, it was ok for one night.

Maggie had a great stay!

Extended Stay America Suites Toledo Maumee

There’s a large grassy field behind the hotel. It’s so large, I has no problem letting Maggie off her leash to run around free for a bit. The hotel is nice, clean and the room is a good size, with a full small kitchen. There are a couple of restaurants nearby (mostly chains). I had dinner at the barbecue place right next door. It was pretty good.

Really nice dog park!

Crow Creek Dog Park

the park is huge, fenced in and grassy with a lot of shade trees and benches. Maggie was very happy meeting and playing with the other dogs. All of the other owners seems quite nice as well! One caveat: much of the park is on a hillside, but there’s plenty off flat space for anybody who might be challenged by that

Ok for a one nighter

Days Inn by Wyndham Mason City

The room was rather small with no amenities, not even a hair dryer. There are both smoking and non-smoking rooms in the hotel and the hallway smells like smoke. There is a large grassy area out back which Maggie appreciated, but no poop bags. Overall it’s good for the price for a one night stay.

Great room with kitchen

My Place Hotel - Davenport/Quad Cities IA

The room was large, it included everything needed for a long term stay including a kitchen with a full sized fridge. There’s a grassy area for Maggie with a poop bag dispenser. By far the best hotel stay I’ve had on a long road trip.

Dated but OK

San Luis Inn and Suites

The room was clean, but it was on the second floor. Bringing Maggie wasn’t a problem. There’s a good breakfast place up the street within walking distance.

Nice place

Motel 6 Idaho Falls ID - Snake River

It was close to restaurants, services, etc. Check out the municipal dog park about a mile and a quarter down the road. Turn right as your leaving the parking lot. It’s very large, well kept and has fenced in areas for both large and small dogs.

Nice sized room, close to everything

Brandin Iron Inn

The room was a bit dated, but nice and clean. The breakfast served was a hot breakfast that included biscuits and gravy, cheese omelettes and all the usual accompaniments. There’s a grassy area for your dog behind the hotel that borders Yellowstone.

Nice stay

Big Bear Motel

The room was a bit dated but well kept. Fridge and microwave in the room. No problems with Maggie, but she was sure interested in the horses in the corral out back!

Good location, recently renovated rooms

Motel 6 Baker City Or

The room was clean and larger than expected. The only negative (and this is typical for Motel 6): no fridge, no microwave, no shampoo.

Great Retro Artsy Place!

Hotel McCoy - Art Coffee Beer Wine

The title says it all. Comfortable, clean, friendly staff, pet friendly. A good vibe all around!

Slimy soap and dirty washcloth left from previous guests

Red Roof Inn Gallup

The title says it all. Avoid rooms towards the back of the hotel because it’s next to an active train track, and those freight trains are looooong!
