Amazing Stop!

Fifi & Fidos Pet Boutique

On a long road trip from South Carolina to San Diego, we began to run low on our senior dog’s favorite food. The manufacturer page suggested Fifi & Fido. I went in this small shop with a boisterous 6 year old and my very anxious and arthritic dog. The customer service we received was A+. The owner and assistant were wonderful with all of us. If I lived in San Antonio, it would be my go-to store.

A/C Heaven

Bass Pro Shops Memphis Pyramid

During a hot August road trip from CA to SC, this place was truly heaven. Our large, senior dog was given lots of treats and snuggles. My young child loved the wildlife exhibits. And I got to shop for all of us- and found some great deals. Even found pet gear most prt stores don’t even stock. One of few places with A/C we could all go and leave happy.

A+ Staff, Dogs Adored

Hilton Nashville Downtown

I (single mom) arrived very late on a rainy Saturday night with my sleepy 6 year old kid and nervous 70-lb, 14 year-old dog. The valet staff helped us with kindness and sincerity. The front desk staff was equally welcoming and generous. We didn’t see any other dogs on the property during our 2-night stay, But our old fella was genuinely welcomed by guests and staff. (As was my daughter.) The grassy part on the block was perfect for potty breaks. The carpeted areas in the hotel were such a help with our old guy’s mobility. The downtown area doesn’t offer many dog-friendly options other than walks. But we had a superb experience with dinner on the patio of the Southern, recommended by the front desk. The $50 pet fee was less than most places nearby. I felt really supported and welcome here. Worth every penny.

Felt Like Staying With Friends

ARRIVE Memphis

Staying here with my senior dog and young daughter truly felt like staying with friends. As a single Mom, genuine help and kindness are true gold. To accommodate us, we usually have to stay in low-end motels or high-end luxury high rises. ARRIVE gave us the friendly, genuine service and accommodation of a high end place. But with an incredibly reasonable rate for all the property offers. My dog felt welcome, not tolerated. The grass area at the Fire Station across the street was lovely. Have already booked our 2nd stay.

My New Favorite Pet Store

Hollywood Feed Headquarters

Welcoming environment, fantastic layout & selection. Superb staff. We got 1-on-1 service that felt like having a personal shopper. My 6-year old kid was just as happy as our large 14 year old dog. Already planning our next visit.

Nice staff, but a huge disappointment

Kimpton Aertson Hotel an IHG Hotel

Pros:
The staff is extremely nice and helpful.
The hotel is very clean and modern.
There is a pet area accessible at night, and a dog bed was provided.

Cons: The parking situation is a nightmare. No valet during the week. The self-park garage does not directly connect the hotel on every floor. This was not explained to us on check-in. No map provided- a suggestion my 5 year old made at we repeatedly navigated various floors & elevators.

Why an issue? Example: I (a single Mom) arrived with. a 70-lb 14 year old dog and a 5 year old in 100 degree weather. We parked on Floor 5. Could not access the hotel. Went down to ground level and had to walk around to the lobby. Got a luggage cart, back to floor 5. Load cart (all with 5 year old and exhausted old dog). No hotel access on this floor (or our room Floor #3). So up to Floor 7 (only floor with hotel access) to enter the building. Then down a maze of corridors to another elevator to Floor 3. (These were the instructions provided by the nice front desk attendant.)

No info was provided at check-in about pet relief areas. There is one provided on the 7th floor- inside the garage. Just image the smells coming from that plastic turf in a humid, mid-summer garage. So, so foul.

I splurged on a corner room with a balcony, as this was the last stop on a long trip from San Diego to South Carolina. We were assigned to a room on the 6th floor with a minibar. Then, the manager corrected the attendant- floor 6 is pet free. No problem, except our new room on Floor 3 did not come with a minibar. I would have gladly paid the zillion dollars for an ice cold water after the luggage, parking decathlon. Or something stronger.

No room service, but there is a restaurant on site. Menu looked nice, but zero kid-friendly options. And no nearby places (that I could locate) with pet-friendly patios. We ordered food delivery. No problem, except the room’s marble topped table only had 1 chair, and was too heavy to move closer to any other seat. So we ended up eating on the bed with towels protecting the duvet.

Nice place for people traveling light and with younger, more nimble dogs. But DEFINITELY not the relaxing, indulgent $400 experience I had hoped for. :(
