Good stay
Kimpton Hotel Arras an IHG HotelAbsolutely perfect location. Great room with wonderful views. Minus one bone for poor quality TP, strange sinks with only a couple inches between between the spout and drain, which made it difficult to wash hands. All in all, a great stay and will try to book here again next trip to AVL.

Comfy, clean & friendly
La Quinta by Wyndham Norfolk AirportReceptionist Larry was extra delightful and welcoming! Personally I think the 4 Bones rating as of our stay is a little generous. It is a La Quinta after all. Very clean, comfortable. Made my reservation 2 weeks in advance and requested quiet top floor away from elevators or ice maker. Got a third floor out of 3 right next to elevator. Could hear trampling from neighbors above but luckily all was quiet at bedtime. During our stay many utility workers were staying there. Perhaps a corporate rate discount. This lead to extra smokers and drinking and shirtless guys going in and out, hanging in parking lot, etc. But they were friendly enough. The location is great with lots to do nearby. We were visiting friends for 1 night in VA Beach while traveling and based on reviews for dog friendly hotels, we chose this place even though it was less convenient to the beach. We would gladly stay here again if the price is competitive as it was upon our booking. All in all, for the price point and dog friendliness, this was a relatively good deal. But 4 Bones, nah!!

Decent but questionable area
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mt Laurel - PhiladelphiaVery nice employees, rooms were clean with some deferred maintenance observed. A neighboring hotel which has an adjoining parking lot seems to attract some undesirable patrons. There's an Applebee's and a McDonald's next to the hotel. At one point before bedtime, there was police activity at this LA Quinta. I asked one of the officers, half jokingly, if it was safe for us to stay here. His reply? "One thing I've learned being a cop in this area is don't cheap out on hotels." I think I'll take his advice next time.

You have a home in Staunton
Hotel 24 SouthIdeally located in town within walking distance to everything. Garage parking (free), indoor pool, small fitness center. Our room was so clean I felt as if we were the first guests! Comfy bed. Only slight negative is there's no mini-fridge or microwave. But with so many restaurants close by plus a breakfast buffet in dining hall ($15), we weren’t disappointed. Friendly engaging staff. Comfortable bed and very quiet. We loved Gloria's restaurant (Pupusas/Salvadoran) and Redbeard Brewery. Will absolutely stay at Hotel 24 South again to explore more of this charming town. Easy 30-minute drive to Harrisonburg where we had a delightful dinner at Rocktown (reservations a must). Thanks Hotel 24 South!

Solid Choice
Best Western Asheville Blue Ridge ParkwayIf you're traveling with your dog and want to be close to Downtown Asheville (5 min drive) and can deal with a basic old school motel, just book this place. Rooms are modestly updated. Everything was super clean. Ned was comfy. Room has fridge and microwave. Breakfast was fine. Helpful friendly staff. Our only real complaint was the room had a noticeable musty odor that we got used to, but always smacked us in the face when returning to the room. Our pet room had carpeted floors which was a little icky, but there were no noticeable stains. Breakfast was good with lots of options. We will stay here again the next time our travels include Asheville as it was an overall pleasant experience!

Great Value
Super 8 by Wyndham Smithfield/SelmaOur second stay and just as good as it was the first time. Comfortable beds, clean rooms, friendly staff. Nice and quiet. Restaurants within walking distance (close at 10PM). Continental breakfast. We'll return again!
