Good place, slooow food service.

Great patio and dog friendly. If you order food, be ready to wait 45 minutes. Good food once you get it. I'm not an impatient person, but if you're about to start a 4 hour drive, this ain't your quick lunch stop.

Best we've found in Hearne

We travel down 79 fairly often between Austin and Tyler with our dog in tow, and didn't see a ton of options with a dog friendly patio. Then we see Penny's Diner had a patio and verified that they allowed small dogs. Great food and friendly staff. If your other option is the Sonic, go to Penny's. It's better in every measurable dimension and supports a small business. On top of being dog friendly, it's a really neat retro-diner with a polished metal exterior.

My one gripe is no gate to enter the patio, but if you've got a smaller dog and two people it isn't the end of the world to pass them over the fence.
