Best Dog-Friendly Brewery

O.H.S.O. Eatery + NanoBrewery is the most popular place to enjoy a beer with your pooch in Arizona. Pull up a chair at one of the tables overlooking the canal on the spacious pet-friendly patio. Four-legged “pawtrons” receive a personalized water bowl and treats upon arrival. Beer enthusiasts can choose between 30 handcrafted beers on tap like a Lemon-Filled Donut Lager or Old Man Yells at Lactose American IPA. Soak up your brew with something from the menu of classic American dishes, including burgers and tacos. The Valley of the Sun is one of the best cities for remote working with your dog, so bring your laptop along, log onto the nanobrewery’s free WiFi, and finish your project with a pint.

When your glass is empty, head back to your room at Hotel Valley Ho.

Most Dog-Friendly State Park

Due to the harshness of the desert, pet-friendly trails in southwest state parks can be difficult to find. Luckily, Oracle State Park welcomes leashed hounds to hike through the high desert country on over 15 miles of dog-friendly paths. A 4-mile section of the Arizona National Scenic Trail passes through this most dog-friendly state park in Arizona as well. For a great view of the surrounding mountains and valleys, take the Granite Overlook Loop. If you visit in spring, a hike along the Mariposa Trail will reveal gorgeous Mariposa lilies in bloom.

The park has been designated an International Dark Sky Park, so don’t miss the opportunity to stargaze with your pup. Spend the night nearby at Peppersauce Campground, or book this pet-friendly desert gem just two miles from the park.

Most Dog-Friendly Attraction

Petrified Forest National Park is considered one of the most pet-friendly national parks in the country, and Arizona’s most dog-friendly attraction. Fido can ride shotgun on Blue Mesa Road, a 3.5-mile scenic drive that features seven Painted Desert overlooks. It’s also the only national park in the U.S. that’s home to a section of historic Route 66. Leashed dogs are welcome on the park’s trail system, including the Historic Blue Forest Trail, a moderate loop that showcases stunning sand formations and otherworldly rocky outcrops. Pups who wish to run off leash can play in the Petrified Fur-Rest Bark Park. The best time to visit is during the quieter fall months when temperatures are mild.

Reserve a room at La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Holbrook to stay close to the park and go back for another day of adventuring. This popular pet-friendly hotel offers rooms with hardwood floors for easy cleanup, and access to a pet relief area on site.

Most Dog-Friendly Campground

Located right off the Mother Road in Flagstaff, Woody Mountain Campground is the perfect place to set up a home base and explore the surrounding area. Spend a day at Grand Canyon National Park, or stay close to camp and hike with your pup in the Coconino National Forest when you stay at Arizona’s most dog-friendly campground. If you decide to stay put and relax in the shade of the cool pines, grab a to-go cup of Joe from the campground coffee bar and take Fido for a walk along the camp trail. Be sure to visit the on-site dog park to let your pooch stretch his legs and meet fellow four-legged campers. Dogs of any size are allowed for no additional fee.

Best Dog Park

Smiling Dog Ranch Dog Park in Tucson is a popular place to bring pups in The Grand Canyon State. Located inside George Mehl Family Foothills Park, this fenced space is bound to put a smile on Fido’s face. Inside, canines can crawl through concrete tunnels, seek shade under trees, and dig holes on the sandy floor. When he’s finished playing off leash, take a stroll together on the paved trail that leads through the serene Rillito River Park.

Reserve a stay at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort. The ‘Loews Loves Pets’ amenity kit includes treats, pet beds and bowls, and your pup can order a meal from the pet room service menu.

Top Trail to Hike With Your Dog

More than one million people visit McDowell Sonoran Preserve in Scottsdale each year to hike 225 miles of recreational trails that wind through the desert habitat, including Arizona’s top trail to hike with your dog. Lost Dog Wash Trailhead is the “pawfect” springing-off point for you and your Spaniel. Here, outdoor lovers will find a selection of easy and moderate trails that show off the natural desert wash, cacti and other native flora, and supreme southern views. The trailhead is also the entrance to the paved and accessible half-mile loop, Kovach Family Nature Trail.

Roaming Retrievers deserve 5-star treatment. Reserve a room at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess and sign your pup up for the Posh Paws Program.

At Arizona’s best dog-friendly B&B, pups can run free with Porter, Quinn, Oden and Zora, the ranch’s resident canines, around 2.5 enclosed acres, and even make a splash together down by the San Pedro River. Four-legged guests can stay in a suite that opens up into the garden area for easy outdoor access. Looking for a day trip? Nearby Tombstone is one of the best small towns to visit with your dog.
