Best Dog-Friendly Brewery

Bring your furry drinking buddy to Kansas’ best dog-friendly brewery, Nortons Brewing Company, in Wichita for a day of libations and relaxation in the pet-friendly beer garden. Sip on a McLovin Marshmallow IPA or Milo’s Sparkly Eyes, designed and named by the owner’s son for his dog, Milo. If you’re feeling hungry, order a sandwich or specialty menu item from the kitchen. Afterwards, meet local mutts at Murfin Animal Care Campus Dog Park.

Spend the night in historic surroundings at Drury Plaza Broadview Wichita.

Most Dog-Friendly State Park

Tuttle Creek State Park is a canine’s dream come true. The most dog-friendly state park in Kansas is split into five units totaling 1,200 acres, and your outbound hound is permitted in each one. Bring Fido along for hiking, fishing, and wildlife watching, or take advantage of the park’s Stretch Dog Park, which features two sections for large and small dogs. Each one offers shade trees, agility equipment, and benches. Your doggie paddler is also welcome to join you on a kayak, canoe, or stand-up paddle board, available to rent on a first-come, first-served basis.

The most dog-friendly campgrounds in Kansas are located in Tuttle Creek State Park, but for more creature comforts, check into the Best Western Manhattan Inn.

Most Dog-Friendly Attraction

Shawnee Mission Park is one of the largest dog parks in the world and The Sunflower State’s top dog-friendly attraction. This gigantic recreation space stretches across 44 acres of grasslands, wooded areas, and open fields. The highlight is the 120-acre lake, which features a dog beach and swimming hole. Dry off on the miles of paved and unpaved trails that wind around the lake and through the woods. Dog park maps and trail guides are available at the Visitor Center.

Book a stay at My Place Hotel Overland Park to see why most BringFido guests leave it a five-bone review. The clean and comfortable hotel has a designated pet relief area outside.

Most Dog-Friendly Campground

Set up camp at one of the five campgrounds located at Tuttle Creek State Park. Your outbound hound is permitted throughout the most dog-friendly campground in Kansas and at both primitive sites and those with hook-ups. Four-legged guests are also allowed in two cabins throughout the five campgrounds. During your stay, bring Fido along for hiking, fishing, and wildlife watching, or head out on the lake with a kayak, canoe or stand-up paddleboard rental. Your pooch will also enjoy the park’s fenced dog park. Four-legged campers are welcome at campsites for no additional fee and in the Pawnee and Nemaha Cabins for an additional fee of $50 per stay.

Best Dog Park

Heritage Park Dog Off-Leash Area in Olathe is a beautiful green space and Kansas’ best dog park. With 30 acres of completely fenced park, dogs of all sizes have plenty of room to roam. Take a morning walk along the well-blazed pathways through tall grass fields and meadows, before stopping for a dip in the inviting waters of the pond at the center of the park. Don’t forget to take a photoshoot for Fido’s calendar alongside the park’s hay bales.

Park up with your pooch at The Garden Carriage House. Surrounded by lush forests, a peaceful pond with a stone bridge, and intimate garden walkways, she won’t mind leaving the dog park behind to spend the night here.

Top Trail to Hike With Your Dog

Shawnee Mission Off Leash Dog Park is the best dog park in Kansas, but it also contains The Sunflower State’s top trail for pups who love to roam off leash. Spanning 44 acres of grasslands, wooded areas, and open fields, the park provides the perfect backdrop for a game of fetch. But the trails lead to the stunning centerpiece, a 120-acre lake with a dog beach and swimming hole. After a doggy paddle, continue to explore the miles of paved and unpaved trails throughout the park.

If your pooch still has energy left, take the designated dog walking trail at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites Overland Park West. Four-legged guests will even receive a treat at check-in.

Netherfield Natural Farm Bed and Breakfast, the best pet-friendly B&B in Kansas, offers visitors a taste of life on a working farm, where animal residents include cattle, chickens, turkey, barn cats, two working dogs, and one “useless house dog.” Spend the night in one of five pet-friendly rooms with a variety of amenities, including hardwood floors and easy access to the outdoors. If you want to take a dip, jump in the large in-ground saltwater pool with a sun deck or lie back in the hot tub, then dry off next to the fire pit. Bring your favorite cocktail ingredients along and make yourself a drink in The Bar/n, a converted barn with a bar, big screen, darts and other fun games.

Netherfield Natural Farm Bed and Breakfast welcomes dogs for an additional fee of $25 per pet, per stay.

Can’t Miss Dog Event

Help your canine companion set a new PR with the challenging but festive Psycho Wyco Run Toto Run, the can’t miss dog event in Kansas. The 50K course consists of three 10.4-mile loops on rocky, root-bound, hilly bridle and single-track trails. Participants can sign up for a 10-Mile, 20-mile, or full 50K race. As is typical of February events, some years the course is muddy, and sometimes it is frozen solid, but the run is always a good time.

Clean up with your pup at Comfort Suites Speedway. Pet-friendly rooms are located on the ground floor for easy access to the grassy area outside.
