Best Dog-Friendly Brewery

Go to a place where everybody knows Fido’s name, Cambridge Brewing Company. Located just outside Boston, Massachusetts’ most dog-friendly brewery invites you and your pooch to sit together on the pet-friendly patio and sample flavor-forward house beers like A Special Place in Helles and Cambridge Amber. The kitchen serves up “Beerunch” classics including eggs benny and breakfast tacos, plus lunch and dinner options to compliment your pint of choice. After your meal, bring your dog along to see a different side of the city on a paddleboard adventure with Charles River Canoe & Kayak.

Stay within walking distance of the brewery at the pet-friendly Le Meridien Cambridge MIT.

Most Dog-Friendly State Park

Explore pet-friendly trails and tide pools at Halibut Point State Park, a former granite quarry with views overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and Massachusetts’ most dog-friendly state park. On clear days you can spot Mount Agamenticus, located 40 miles away in Maine, and the Isles of Shoals off the coast of New Hampshire. Take a hike through the adjacent Halibut Point Reservation and wind your way down to the bluffs, stopping along the way for lunch at a picnic area. Once you’ve reached the rocky shore, your pup can help look for sea stars, hermit crabs, and harbor snails in the tide pools, while you keep your eye on the skies for terns, ducks, and sandpipers.

Discover the charming town of Rockport and the Cape Ann community with a stay at Rockport Inn and Suites. Fido will be greeted with his own bowl and treats, and he’ll have plenty of green space to sniff out. The hotel is located within walking distance of the beach, as well as downtown shopping and restaurants.

Most Dog-Friendly Attraction

Set sail on an epic adventure with your salty sea dog and Dolphin Fleet of Provincetown Whale Watch, the most dog-friendly attraction in The Bay State. Pups can either cruise from the centrally-heated and air-conditioned interior cabin or join you on the sundeck to watch whales breach the surface of the Gulf of Maine. Tours last 3-4 hours, so make sure Fido has a potty break before you hop on board. Afterward, let your dog loose at Dog Beach, one of Provincetown’s pet-friendly beaches.

Walk to the beach from Harbor Hotel Provincetown. This pet-friendly hotel has grassy areas outside, but also offers wooded trail access.

Most Dog-Friendly Campground

Experience the beauty of New England at Massachusetts’ most dog-friendly campground, Normandy Farms Campground, a luxury camping experience created for humans and dogs alike. Fido will have a ball in the 1.5-acre Freedom Tail Park, a fully fenced area with agility equipment, dog wash, and drinking fountain. There’s even a separate area for smaller pups to play safely. When it’s time for the kids to splash in the pool, drop your pooch off at the Canine Coops day kennel, or make a reservation for a campground employee to take him for a walk. Pets are permitted in your own tent or RV for no additional fee, and two pets of any size are allowed in select campground rentals for an additional fee of $15 per pet, per night. There are additional fees for kennel and walking services.

Best Dog Park

Bring the “pawty” inside at JB's Indoor Dog Park in Norwell. This indoor dog park is a great antidote to The Bay State’s fluctuating weather, offering a 3,000-square-foot haven, rain or shine. The climate-controlled play area is warm in the winter and cool in the summer, making it Massachusetts’ best dog park. Inside, the park is stocked with toys, agility equipment and hardwood floors for easy cleanup. Don’t forget to buy your dog a frosty treat and sign up for breed meetups.

If Fido is tired of playing inside, reserve a stay at this charming townhouse with a grassy backyard in a quiet suburb near Boston.

Top Trail to Hike With Your Dog

Tumbling water, roaring cascades, and refreshing spray make waterfalls a refreshing feature of any hike for four-legged wanderers. Bash Bish Falls Trail in Bash Bish Falls State Park is the top trail to hike with your dog in The Bay State. Get down to business on the rugged trail through mature forest over boulders and alongside a brook, before an ascent up natural stone and manmade wooden stairs. The pretty payoff is a view of the highest single-drop waterfall in Massachusetts at the end of the trail. Bash Bish Falls Trail is two miles out and back and is an easy hike that allows all hiker levels to enjoy the falls.

Naomi's Inn Bed & Breakfast in Springfield is described as “not your grandma’s B&B.” This modern twist on the classic idea offers a variety of pet-friendly rooms spaced out away from guests without dogs. At Massachusetts’ most dog-friendly B&B, pups can use beds and bowls provided and will receive treats at check-in. Outside, you're free to enjoy the grassy gardens with your leashed dog. Or, cross the Connecticut River and wander the pet-friendly hiking trails at Mittineague Park together.

Naomi's Inn Bed & Breakfast welcomes pets of any size for an additional fee of $15 per pet, per night.

Can’t Miss Dog Event

With its haunted history, Salem, MA is one of the most enchanting places to celebrate Halloween. The city’s Howl-o-ween Pet Parade is unlike many of Salem’s frightful festivities, as it’s much more cute than creepy. Dress up your pets in their best individual or group costumes, and let them parade around Derby Wharf for the chance to win exciting prizes at Massachusetts’ can’t miss dog event.

Learn more about the haunted history of Salem with Witch City Walking Tours, then creep back to your cozy room at Salem Inn where Fido is provided with pet bedding, food and water bowls and treats at check-in.
