Located just outside the entrance to Zion National Park, Zion Canyon Brew Pub in Springdale is the best dog-friendly brewery in Utah and it includes a view of the Zion mountain range. From Stout Nitro to Foray Pomegranate, the brew pub’s 12 different tastes are sure to satisfy even the most discerning drinker. Couple your refreshing pint with a fulfilling meal from the kitchen menu, which includes an elevated elk burger and a range of appetizers. And don’t miss a hike along the Pa'rus Trail, one of Zion’s few pet-friendly pathways.

Stay less than a mile from the park at La Quinta Inn & Suites at Zion Park Springdale.

Most Dog-Friendly State Park

What Moab’s national parks lack in pet-friendly activities, neighboring Dead Horse Point State Park makes up for. Encompassing over 5,000 acres of high desert and rigid canyons, Dead Horse Point allows leashed dogs on many of the paved and dirt trails, making it Utah’s most dog-friendly state park. Stroll along the 0.8-mile Visitor Center Nature Trail, which is lined with interpretive signs pointing to plants and unique features, or take Fido on one of four additional trails ranging from 1 to 3.5 miles each way. You’ll see desert potholes (seasonal pools of water), wildlife, and incredible overlooks. Bring a picnic lunch or grab a snack and beverage from the visitor center, and pick a table on the dog-friendly deck to admire the stunning views while you eat.

Pet-friendly campsites are available within Dead Horse Point State Park. You can also upgrade your camping experience and glamp at Under Canvas Moab.

Most Dog-Friendly Attraction

Trek along the Grandstaff Canyon Trail in Moab with your four-legged hiking partner and discover the beauty of Utah. Surrounded by huge cliffs etched into Navajo sandstone, this most dog-friendly attraction in Utah blazes through a canyon alongside a winding stream. The payoff is Morning Glory Natural Bridge, the sixth-largest natural bridge in the United States. Cottonwood and willow trees provide occasional shade, but it’s best to set off early to beat the heat. This National Recreation Trail is rated moderate and is just under six miles out and back.

Mornings on the trails can be tiring work, so head back to Homewood Suites by Hilton Moab to rest up before exploring more dog-friendly activities in Moab. Fido can sprawl on the cool hardwood floors of your room, and there’s a pet relief area for guest use outside.

Most Dog-Friendly Campground

If you’re planning to explore the red rocks of southern Utah with Fido, make Green River KOA your home base. Just an hour west of Moab, Utah’s most dog-friendly campground features a Kamp K9 dog park as well as individual campsites with private Paw Pens, so your pup can play off leash while you relax, cook dinner, or sit around the campfire. In addition to the dog-friendly trails at Dead Horse Point State Park and Corona Arch in Moab, your adventurous pooch can join you on a hike through Moonshine Wash, a slot canyon just south of the campground. Dogs of any size are welcome for no additional fee.

Best Dog Park

Does your dog love to paddle in a pet-friendly swimming hole? Tanner Park in Salt Lake City offers a couple of cool swimming spots where pups can take a dip, making it Utah’s best dog park. The 10-acre park near Parley’s Canyon has a river and several nature trails where furry friends can run and splash off leash. Be sure to hike Parley's Historic Nature Park Trail Loop, a dog-friendly trail that cuts through the dog park and is suitable for all skill levels.

Book a stay at this pretty little house nearby, where pups can find entertainment in the fenced backyard and humans at the pool table.

Hoodoos are tall rock formations formed by millions of years of erosion. Discover some of these unique spires on a hike with your hound at Toadstool Hoodoos in Kanab. Located at Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument, Utah’s top trail to hike with your dog takes visitors past the mushroom-shaped oddities and all the way up to views of the Paria River Valley below. It’s under two miles out and back and rated easy, which means all hiking levels can enjoy a shroom with a view.

Book a room at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and relax after hiking the hoodoos.

Breathe in the fresh Utah air from the balcony or patio of your room at The Rim Rock Inn in Torrey. Pet-friendly rooms at the state’s best pet-friendly B&B range from comfortable kings with epic desert views to private cabins with hardwood floors and easy outdoor access. For a unique national park experience, pick a variety of fruit from the 1900 heirloom trees at nearby Capitol Reef National Park. Then grab barbeque favorites or a slice of pizza from the inn’s attached restaurant, The Rim Rock Patio.

The Rim Rock Inn permits pets of any size for an additional fee of $20 per pet, per night.
