Best Dog-Friendly Brewery

Perhaps the most picturesque pet-friendly patio on our list of best dog-friendly breweries can be found at Melvin Brewing - Alpine Taproom in Alpine. Overlooking the Snake River and mountain peaks in the distance, this destination brewery will take your breath away, and the beers aren’t bad either. With draft favorites like Melvin Hops IPA and Killer Bees American Blonde Ale, you’ll be spoiled for choice. Feeling hungry? Order a local vintage burger or beer-soaked brat from the menu and take your time soaking up the beautiful surroundings with your best friend by your side.

While activities for pets are limited in Grand Teton National Park, the more dog-friendly Emily Stevens Park invites canine visitors to soak in the magnificent views while exploring the stunning natural surroundings. Three miles of dog-friendly trails at Wyoming’s most dog-friendly state park offer breathtaking glimpses of the Teton mountain range and the Snake River. Dogs can run off leash if they obey voice commands.

Book a room with a view at Snow King Resort Hotel, where four-legged guests receive a basket of goodies at check-in.

Most Dog-Friendly Attraction

Situated between the Black Hills and Yellowstone National Park, Bighorn National Forest in Sheridan is a lesser-known area of natural beauty that shouldn’t be missed. Beat the crowds in the neighboring parks and get in touch with nature on over 1,200 miles of trails with your leashed pooch for company at Wyoming’s most dog-friendly attraction. The Tongue River Canyon Trail is just under five miles in length and rewards hikers with a variety of untouched canyon and forest views. For an easier trek, walk along the Porcupine Falls Trail and check out the awesome falls with your four-legged hiking partner. After your trek, take a drive along Medicine Wheel Passage which follows an ancient trail to the top of the mountain range and offers incredible viewing points along the way. If you want to play it safe, attach a bell to your dog’s collar to keep wildlife like bears away.

Sleep it off at this stylish home in Sheridan. Hardwood floors make for easy cleanup, and there’s a nice outdoor space for grilling up Fido’s favorites.

Most Dog-Friendly Campground

Catch a fiery-red sunset over the mountains while camping at Red Desert Rose Campground, Wyoming’s most dog-friendly campground, just off Interstate 80 in Rawlins, WY. You’ll be centrally located for a day’s drive to many national parks and monuments. If you prefer to stay close to camp, your pup can join you for a hike in Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest and Thunder Basin National Grassland, or he can stretch his legs in the campground’s fenced dog park. Allow him to join you for a game of horseshoes, or take a walk along the seven-mile Continental Divide Trail that passes through Rawlins. Dogs of any size are permitted at select tent sites and all RV sites for no additional fee.

Best Dog Park

Bitter Creek Bark Park in Rock Springs is the number one dog park in The Equality State. Featuring grass banks that slope into a canine-friendly pond, sunken tunnels to race through, and a separate area for small pups to play safely, this welcoming park just off I-80 is an ideal place to make a pit stop during a road trip. Beat the heat underneath shade trees that line the fence and casually stroll around the gravel pathway that surrounds the park.

Once Fido has stretched his legs, check in to Hampton Inn Rock Springs, just a short walk from the park. Four-legged guests receive treats at check-in and have access to a grassy relief area outside.

Top Trail to Hike With Your Dog

From meadows full of wildflowers and huge waterfalls, to a large cave to cool off in, Darby Canyon Wind Cave Trail in Caribou-Targhee National Forest near Alta has something for everyone. This sprawling national forest has sections in the states of Idaho and Wyoming, with a small section in Utah. Start your journey of the top trail to hike with your dog in Wyoming on a forested stretch, then ascend up a hill for valley views below, before reaching a rocky pathway through a meadow. Darby Canyon Wind Cave Trail is just over six miles out and back and is rated difficult due to rocky inclines. For an easier hike in the forest, stride out on Mesa Falls Nature Trail, a two-mile pathway featuring wildflowers.

Crash out with your best friend at Targhee Lodge By Grand Targhee Resort. This pet-friendly resort is surrounded by rolling hills and has lots of space to explore with your pooch.

Bring your vertically-challenged canine to the Annual Corgi Derby in Pine Bluffs, WY. Hosted by Cheyenne Animal Shelter, this can’t miss dog event in Wyoming on Kentucky Derby day will crown the fastest canine with a very special Corgi trophy. Pet parents with different breeds can still enter pups into the Mutt Round, which sees up to 50 dogs racing for a prize. If you are planning a longer stay in the area, head to Dogtoberfest at Freedom's Edge Brewing Company in Cheyenne a few days later, another event that raises money for the shelter.

Between events, enjoy a spacious room at Best Western Plus Frontier Inn, where winning and losing Corgis are all rewarded with treats at check-in.
