Cozy up together at the bar or join the crowds hanging out on the sidewalk seating at this best dog-friendly brewery in New York for an evening of fun and grub from a food truck. Make sure you have No Egrets, Fifth Hammer’s flavorsome pale ale, or stay afloat with Western Waters, a classic West Coast IPA. Admire stunning views of the Hudson River, Bannerman Island, Cold Spring, and Constitution Marsh from Storm King State Park. Experienced hikers and their pups can set out on a 3.5-mile trek through this undeveloped park, stopping to take in the views of the Hudson Valley and Catskills at the many outcroppings. Visit New York’s most dog-friendly state park in the fall to witness gorgeous autumn colors from 1,300 feet above the valley. Keep your eyes peeled for the rare Peregrine Falcons, which disappeared from New York in the 1960s but have made a return to the park in recent years.

Emerald Glen Getaway is an unmissable escape in Morris. Set in the scenic countryside of Upstate New York, dogs are welcome to play off leash on the property’s 175 acres of meadows, trails, forests, dog beaches, ponds, and creeks. In addition to its natural wonders, you and your pooch can enjoy amenities like water stations, a dog wash, and tons of toys at New York’s most dog-friendly attraction. After the sun goes down, head to The Hound Hub, a central gathering spot where you can socialize with other guests, fire up the wood-burning grill to cook a tasty dinner, and catch a lovely sunset over the meadow.

Stick around at the Emerald Glen Getaway and sleep in a creekside tent furnished with a futon and two camping chairs. Or, reserve a well-equipped cottage or cabin with electricity instead.

Lake George RV Park is home to Charlie’s Dog Park, a 2-acre fenced park with divided sections for small and large dogs. Your pooch will be dog-tired after a day of romping with pals on the large synthetic turf play area, splashing in the fire hydrant spray fountain, or accompanying you off leash on the shaded walking trails at New York’s most dog-friendly campground. He can also practice hoop jumping and other tricks on the 15-event agility course. Within the park there are waste stations, dog water fountains and even a treat vending machine where you can purchase snacks, bones and toys for your good boy or girl. Charlie’s Dog Park is open from dawn to dusk, but you’ll want to allow time at the end of the day for a bath and groom at the indoor dog wash station. The park permits six pets per site for no additional fee if you bring your own RV, and two pets per site for no additional fee if you rent one of their pet-friendly RVs.

Treman State Park has nine miles of trails that welcome dogs, including the popular Rim Trail and Gorge Loop Trail, New York’s top trail to hike with your dog. This shady woodland pathway features a craggy waterfall with a swimming hole and a creek for paddling along the way. Learn more about the region’s flora and fauna by reading the interpretive signs dotted along the footpath, too. The loop is just over four miles long and rated moderate due to steep sections.

The fashionistas of the furry kind hit the runway at the annual New York Pet Fashion Show, The Empire State’s can’t miss dog event, in February each year. The world’s largest pet fashion show and animal rescue benefit raises money for NYC's animals with themed costume competitions, which in the past have included Country Couture and Western Wear. Beautiful Bichons and gorgeous Goldens strut their stuff on the catwalk in an attempt to win The Gold Paw Awards.

If Vogueing up and down the boardwalk isn’t enough exercise for Fido, take an evening stroll around Central Park before relaxing for the night at the pet-friendly Stewart Hotel.
